I got to looking at the OME 2.5" heavies that I got with the rust bucket..... the bottom three springs in the pack actually arc down from the center pin then come back up and they are RUSTY.....

I'd figured on pulling 2 and maybe 3 springs out of the packs to improve ride quality for DD, but I'm curious if any one has adapted Firestone or Air Lift airbags to the rear of a 60 to handle heavier loads.

Ive got them in my 80. Had them for years their great.I had air shocks they were terrible.

I saw Firestone has them for the 80's.... didn't see anything for the 60'. Any chance you could post a couple pics of the ones for the 80's? I may be able to adapt it to the 60 rear...... maybe.

Simple to adapt, but you might need some AirLift spacers to make it work. Just installed the AirLifts on my wife's 78' Chevy K20. Pretty much a universal fit really, but then again you would now have the SUA to deal with...
We have been incredibly happy with them. Last week she ran over to the landscaping shop, and had them put in two yards of wet (heavy) 3/4 gravel. Truck took it like a champ with no issues.

80 air bags on in the coils you would be better off useing a kit for a Ford F250-350 there brakets would be easy to adapt it a 60's frame

firestone makes somelifts that would work on the 60s but they are $$$,esp with their pump.Price around on -line

Mike, do a search for member dshock posts. He added bags to his 60, and has pics posted somewhere.

EDIT: LINK to it.

OOPs! I didn't type fast enough (see above)!!!!!

I really like my AIROverLeafs. I'm running OME heavy up front and medium rear with the third leaf removed. When relatively empty I leave the bags empty or maybe 10psi and then if I've got anything in the back I run 15-20 psi. The rear is very nice and controlled over washboards, expansion joints, bad roads... when empty or loaded down.
