I'm thinking of picking up a lokar for the 700r4 in my 45. Anyone running one? What model and length did you get? Would you get a different length or style if you had it to do over?

It mounts all the way down onto the top of the tranny, soooo you are going to want one with a shift lever at least as long as the stock Toyota floor shift lever, if not slightly longer (at least 16" lever).

Love my Lokar. Hated the B&M shifter I had previously.

I am a Winters man but the Lokar is a good tranny shifter.

Reddingcruiser speaks the truth.

I am running the 16". It has some drawbacks. The gear indicator they sell costs more than the shifter. I went without so it takes time to get to know the selected gear by the position of the lever. You get a park/neutral switch and no backup light. Since mine is a wheeler I like to be able to start in gear if it stalls so I modified and moved the base to line up the park switch cam lobe with reverse instead and use that as my backup light switch. So while nice they do leave a little to be desired.

Hated my Hurst shifter!

Did you guys go cable shift with bracket or floor shift or tranny mount?

IMO, the transmission mount, direct connection by rod, is the smoothest and most reliable. I've had mine in for almost 5 years and have never had an issue. I built a rig for a friend several years ago and got the shifter to come out the OEM location and used the stock Toyota shift boot.

I has an upholstery shop sew it up and I mounted it the OEM Toyota shift boot frame. It was pretty easy to do.

Anybody here using the Lokar Reverse Light Switch with an aftermarket Transmission Pan? It doesn't fit properly on the Pan Bolts and was looking to see if anybody has made some kind of modification for this before?

Called Lokar and they were zero help. Just said it requires a stock transmission pan.
