There is a, quite frankly, perfectly done 100 for sale
1999 Toyota Land Cruiser , $12,900 - Cars.com

I'm in the minority that I like the maroon color above all others and this had every mod done I would want. I had them send me some photos of the underside, looks like any rust has been sorted out and proofed. Looks clean.

Obviously, this is a little far for me to inspect, 850 miles away from me in Tampa FL. Flights to Charlottesville arent cheap either. (is there a better airport?

If a mud member gives it the thumbs up, I'd buy unseen and have it delivered or bite the bullet and fly up + drive home.

Im a few hours away but don't have time to make it out that way. I bought a new FJ from this dealer and will say they are a great bunch of guys. The GM is an enthusiast and has a heavily modified FJ. Talk to Ryan Sodikoff.

Edit-Drop that rear ARB bar off at my place when you come through.:)

I agree, ive emailed tons of dealers and they actually responded like a human being. Seem like a great dealership which is why I am even considering the flight up.

It will have to wait until this hurricane passes though.

Anyone on here drive a built one daily, with a lift, ARB bumpers, etc...? I only commute 4 miles so MPG is no big deal to me.

They just came at me with a great out the door price and I am tempted.
Looking at this one, I have some concerns it might not fit in the parking garage at work o_O Just how tall it with a 2in OME lift?
has new tires, belts, battery, stereo, spark plugs, backup camera, no rust.

Quote from Summit Transport was $850 shipped to me.

Assuming 285/75R16 tires around 6' 7"ish, but I'd measure it before I went charging into any garages, and don't always believe the signs.

I would strongly recommend seeing it person.. That is a metric asston of miles to buy sight unseen. Drive it, check the undercarriage and such. A dealer's idea of what a perfect looking/driving truck is and Mud community's are very likely two very different things.

They sent me underside photos, clean as you can ask for. The mods were all dealer installed it was stock at 299k miles

It really comes down to how you feel about it. If your gut says its a go then go for it! I bought mine site unseen, but it just so happened we have an office near the dealer and a co worker not too far to look at it and test drive it for me. Bought that day. 2001 186k for 9k.

But that is a nice looking turn key truck. Granted i haven't seen any other pics...if you feel good then do it...

I think i paid $450 open carrier from ATL to Tampa.

Its got impeccable history even if its 300k miles, they gave me price of $11.9k out the door, tax fees included.
Carfax and ToyotaCare both check out, I wouldnt have to replace anything but fluids for 100k

I can't speak for them personally but Stephen Toyota sells a lot vehicles in this area. I have never heard anything negative about them.

You might also try posting in the CLCC forum. There are some Staunton & H-burg residents who frequent the forum.

Let me know if you want me to look at it tomorrow. The general manager (whose dad is Steven, the owner) is a close friend, owns a built FJ Cruiser and is a hell of a guy. I'm lined up to buy another vehicle from them once it comes in for work (2016 Tacoma). Shoot me a PM if you want me to take a look at it.

it looks nice on the outside but 300K is a good number of miles. It's not very likely that you won't have to do anything to it besides fluids for the next 100K, I think. Things wear out over 300K miles and degrade over 16 years.

It does look nice, but that is a fair number of miles. I'd have a real hard time paying that price, for a vehicle with that many miles, w/o seeing it in person and spending a little time behind the wheel. There's quite a gap in its history 11/03-06/08 (~120,000 miles), maybe they were using an independent shop, but I wouldn't call it an "impeccable history".

We went through a similar exercise when purchasing my son's 1st car, about a year ago. We looked at a number of "perfect" 100 series (according to the seller and according to Carfax) that were often a very different story when we looked at them in person. We looked at and drove about a dozen before we found the "right one" for us. We ended up purchasing a 2000 with ~100,000 miles, for my son.

In our case the previous owner had already installed an OME lift and 285/75R16 tires. We spent some time sorting out their suspension lift install. They had cranked the torsion bars a bit too much, not leaving enough droop. They hadn't addressed the lack of caster due to the lift, so we added some SPC UCAs. While we were at it we installed a diff drop too. We found the spare was the original 15 year old, 275/70R16 which wasn't the correct size (compared to the other 4 tires on the ground) nor did it hold air. Ours was also due for a timing belt change.

If you do end up purchasing this one or really any 100 series, despite what the seller may say, I'd expect to spend a little time and money getting things sorted out. Even though it's a Land Cruiser, it's 16 years old and has ~300,000 miles.

You're paying full price and then some for the accessories. With the year and miles, that's a 7-8k truck if it were stock. Id recommend finding a truck with 150k miles for that price and upgrade as budget allows. You'd be happier in the long run. These engines are good but 400k is about the most you'd get out of it. You don't want to do a swap or rebuild do you?

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'll move on from this one I think, just dont have the time to get up there even though I trust your opinions on the quality of the dealer.

saw a nice 98 Desert Bronze 199k mi today in Sarasota Florida (much closer obviously), paint looked great by far the best color IMO. Only defect is the driver seat need some conditioning not a big deal, due for a TB + WP service (last done at 99k). I think i'll go for this one if I can get the TB WP service priced out and factored in.

Got them to 8500 + tax, if they knock off a little more it would be worth it in my mind. What is the transmission issue with these 98/99 years I should look for? Seemed to get into 4th okay and once we were above 70mph the RPMs were about 2700, seemed high to me.
