Has anyone moved their parking brake ? I'm wondering about moving it to accomodate a larger tuffy box in its place. I'm exploring the idea of moving it to the left, drivers side here in US of the transmission hump ?

So weird I was thinking of doing this myself to accommodate a larger center console. I looked at a few options and I think im gonna go with an electric parking brake. I looked at this one since it is made for all weather.

Thanks for the feedback. Do you know anything about this unit or anyone who has used one ?, price ? My thoughts are that the mechanical unit could be moved anywhere with the right setup, I just dont want to reinvent the wheel so to speak. I assume this setup could be quite universal ?

Looks universal to me. I just couldn't find another location for the mechanical brake.

Looked at their website and ebay, prices are over $2k ? Nice setup and a cool intereface re adapting handicap driving systems but a bit spendy ?

Oh wow, I didn't look at the price. Gotta be something cheaper

Do all LandCruisers E-brake the same? I think not. There may be parts used in other markets or perhaps for the 70 series or other LC model that could be adapted. For instance, US market Isuzu Rodeos got a floor ebrake with the 6 cylinder, but 4 lowly 4 cylinder Rodeos there was only a grab handle under the dash.

Then there's the pick-and-pull until you see something likely.

For sure, you want it done right and still easily accessible. It is, after all, an emergency brake. Getting the cable right once you get the appliance is one way to go. It being cable actuated should help, you just need to get something bolted down that works. You may need a lever or something to take the cable pull off the centerline and over to where you want it, not sure, never looked when I had a chance back on the farm with ebrakes setups by the driver's left leg.

To be honest, I never employ my e-brake, parking brake. I live in Florida right now and its flat, really flat !! I can prob do without parking brake completely cos of where I live. To me its more important to have the space and comfort of a wider area the tuffy provides. Just trying to figure out if anyone has moved te e brake

1st gen Tacomas have an e-brake handle where the hand throttle goes on the 80's. Probably a bazillion Tacomas in junkyards these days. Maybe you could adapt that system to work?

Great idea

I've actually got a hand throttle where a hand throttle is supposed to be. Good idea though. I seem to remember my time in Oz that they had a setup like you mention. Australia or New Zealand, any input ?

Ha, obviously, if you have a hand throttle, that's not going to work. Probably could use the same handle and mount it somewhere else or use some of the hardware for re-routing a custom system. I've attached a diagram (from Villagetoyotaparts.com). Most of the parts actually look like they're pretty cheap.

Land Cruiser parking brake diagram attached. Looks like the conversion is theoretically possible, but in practice I'm sure it's a pain.

No problem. If you or someone else can make this work I'd love to see some pics. Always liked the dash mounted e-brake.

Since this is a factory option it shouldnt be too hard ?, already set up overseas ? I know i;VE seen it somewhere ?

since this is a factory optio

Very interested in this as well.
I've asked around somewhat before bit never got much joy.
Really want to dump the current console box for a much larger setup (lock box, cup holders, switches, arm rests etc..)
I've looked at a few 4Runner/Tacoma setups and looks as if would require some fabrication for bracketry to hold a manual pull setup . Getting a new brake cable made up isn't that difficult - more the routing into the existing channels.
