I was driving around today and saw a green Land Cruiser sitting in a grocery store parking lot with a for sale sign on it. I pulled in to take a quick look. It is a green 1993 LC with 162k miles, LOCKERS, and it has gray CLOTH interior. It is stock from what I could tell, asking $6k OBO. I got the phone number if any one was interested. It is not listed on craigslist or anything, so I wondered if anyone here may be interested. I already have a 93, or else I would of been taking it for a test drive. :steer: If anyone is interested, and you live far away, I would go look at it for you and let you know if it is worth pursuing. :meh: Anyway, just an FYI.

What did the overall condition look like? I'm in Oklahoma city and would like to see it.

Thanks, Ross

From the quick look I had at it, it seemed to be in good shape. I am thinking about going by today around lunch to get a better look over it. I will post up after I check it out.

I didnt get a chance to go by today like I thought I would. I will go tomorrow and check it out. That is a guarantee! I will take my camera and try to make note of everything I can think of. I will post up ASAP.

Cool thing what you are doing (helping out the owner of the cruiser).
I have two guys interested for the vehicle in Miami. Post pics and if possible try to give us more detail info in regards to leaks, etc.
Thank you.

Sorry I was not able to get back sooner, I got called in to work and worked about 36 hours straight!

So I went by this afternoon and looked over it a little better. It is green exterior with gray cloth interior, not brown (dont know why I put brown before). It has lockers, but I could not get them to engage, it may just be from inactivity, but I am not sure. The owner didn't know what the lockers were. :) It drove fine and the engine didnt seem to have any leaks. The birfs looked good with just a little fluid visible, but definitely cleaner than a lot I have seen. AC worked fine, although when the compressor would kick in the idle seemed to change more than normal. Brakes seemed a little soft, but I am comparing them to my LC. It had a tow bar/hitch. Miles are 161,461 as of today. The electric antennae even worked. No D light, of course. :) She said she has owned the LC for 5 years or so, and is the 2nd owner. I would run a carfax and see what it says, but I didnt get the VIN - I can go back or you can call her. Phone number is 661-860-0489. Oil pressure gauge ran a little higher than mine before shifting, but it stayed in the normal zone other than that. It has an after market CD player. Interior was pretty clean and the exterior was prety decent as well. There was some rust on the running boards and some surface rust on the underside, not too bad at all. The exhaust looked a little more rusty, but no holes and no leaks. She said the head gasket has not been done, and it didnt look to like it had been done. To be honest, I would try and talk her down some on the price (she is asking $6,000) but I would consider buying it if I were looking. I didnt get any bad vibes from the Cruiser. :D

After seeing this one with cloth, I sure wish I had cloth instead of leather.

Daniel

Yes, the leather from factory is not very good. Unless the previous owners took very good care of the seats, they are cracked/ripped. I personally like leather in my vehicles, but the LC's leather is just not very good. The cloth seemed much better.

lots of corrosion for a Texas rig. Look at the aluminum engine parts also look at the heater box support above the gas peddle. New Orleans rig maybe?

I bet that green really soaks up the heat down in Fort Worth in the summer. These Maryland rigs can get a little rusty depending on where they were owned. DC and westward get the winter salt east of DC gets the salty air. I would check the undercarriage towards the back.

Open question to anyone who knows:

From the pix - two of them show a bracket with two nuts at its base dropping down to the front of the tranny hump - it is to the left of the accelerator pedal. What is that and why does it look like salt-oxidized aluminum?????
