Quick question about putting in the out side track-rear slider window. I bought the whole rear p/s window unit from a fellow mudder(thank you!). Would it just be easier pull the whole window slider assembly, or just pull the outside track slider window from the spare and put it in my window. I get the window in this afternoon, and am going to get started on it then...so any help would be most appreciated. It might be easier than I think to just pop the window in the tracks....but since I doubt that....I thought I would ask for some guidance. I'll try and post some pics later to clarify a little.

Well i never got a response back about the window. I'm going to try and remove mine and string in the new/used one I got, since putting the single slider in the tracks seems impossible while its installed in the 80. It's been like ten years since I stringed in a window......so If anyone got any pointers I'm all ears. my local glass shop wanted 100.00 min. to do this job......forget that!

When we took it out, it was a series of small pry bars and getting it over the ridges in the gasket. We also weren't worried about the body shell, so we could manhandle it a little. No idea on replacement, maybe the FSM would have pointers.

I just removed, and resealed one of mine last week. Fairly easy, but a but teadius(sp?). Remove the five screws from the aluminum trim that holds the rear cargo carpet. Remove lower plastic interior quarter panels. Remove third row upper seatbelt bolt. Remove the plastic panel from that area. Remove the 7mm nut through the opening in the quarter panel metal (almost even with the bottom of the slid window, towards the back of the vehicle). This bolt holds the outside vent on. Open both sides of the slid window. From the outside, remove the vent. There a three fasteners that hold the vent panel on; the 7mm nut that you just removed and and two panel pop plastic fasteners (one in the middle and one at the top). Take care when removing this PLASTIC panel, it can be brittle. I used a panel poper tool. Once the vent panel is removed, you are ready to pop out the window. I started in the lower, front corner. Reaching through the window, I peeled up the rubber gasket, while pulling outward on the window. Pulling it out is a snap......reinstallin takes a little more time. I used spray silocone, and a smooth panel pop tool, to help re-seat the rubber gasket. The rest just pops, bolts, and screws back on. This may not be the text book way to do the job, but it worked great for me. I hope that I helped you in some way.
Good Luck

Well I just put the window in. that was the easiest thing I've ever done. my plastic vent was already broken at the bottom so I didn't really worry about it. I just used the string method to put the window back in and had my father keep pressure on the outside of the window. I also left the "new" window out in the sun for 30 min. to let the rubber seal become more pliable. I had to glue the plastic vent and the seals that go with it back into place. Thanks for the helpfull words tony!

I'm glad to hear things worked out for you.
