Anyone know how to flash the tpms memory?

hi, everyone,
I just had new tires put on my regular wheels. At the same time, I had my winter tires and wheels taken off my 100. The winter tires and wheels have their own pressure sensors installed. When the new tires and wheels were put on, my tpms system malfunction light came on shortly afterwards. Long story short, I had the sensors read and all came back to life and are broadcasting, but the the tire dealer could not cancel the malfunction light. He said that he is getting a message to the effect of "pressure sensors already registered." He got the same message whether the "A" system or the "B" system was selected in the glovebox. Sure seems like I have to flash the memory to get the system to recognize my pressure sensors. The regular initialization procedure has no effect on the system malfunction light. Any ideas? Thanks, John

I think there is a 1st / 2nd set button. Be sure all 5 of your tires are properly aired if you do the reset, it will set the threshold based upon the current pressure of the tires. For example if your tire light is on solid because all of your tires are at 25 lbs and you hold down the tire light to reset, it will turn the tire light off because it will set the new threshold around 20psi lets say. Holding down the tire button will not register sensors to the vehicle.

Is it a solid light or a blinking light? If it's solid the system is recognizing a low tire(s). Is the spare aired up? If the light is blinking, one or more of the sensors is malfunctioning or the vehicle's TMPS system is not reading the sensors.

Hi, Thanks for the ideas but my problem is that the tpms brain won't recognize the sensors I am using because the winter tire sensors are logged in the memory. I have to clear the registration of those sensors so that the brain will recognize the summer tire sensors. According to the tire dealer, all the sensors on the summer tires are broadcasting a signal so none of the sensors are the problem.

I see. You have two sets of sensors. Some Lexus models have a 1st/2nd set toggle button, so you can easily switch from summer to winter tires without programming TPMS sensors (assuming both sets of sensors are programmed to vehicle).

If your vehicle isn't equipped with a 1st/2nd button, sounds like you will have to have summer tires registered to the vehicle with a scantool likely.
