Anyone know how to fix the headlight warning sound... i.e. when you turn off the ignition and open your door, it should make a sound like every other vehicle when you leave your lights on, etc..

Doesn't have an alarm.

:doh:

I'm not sure what year it changed, but the headlights became auto-off. On the '92 we had, it would kill the battery if you left them on. The '96s turn them off after about 5-10 minutes. None of the 3 ever had an alarm for the headlights.

Thanks for the replies! I was having a brain fart with which key words to use on the search, that's why I posted.

I had my alarm(think it was the key/door open alarm) make a different sound when it was hot out. It sounded like it was sick.

My 1996 turns off the headlights immediately when the ignition is
turned off, no delays, and of course, no buzzers.

digital,

I see from some of your other posts that you have a '91. (You should really let us know that when asking technical questions.) So no, you do not have a headlight warning buzzer.

BUT: There is a relatively simple re-wire that will turn the "key in ignition" warning buzzer into a headlight warning buzzer. Let me know if you're really interested in pursuing this and I'll dig it up. (Also, I'm pretty sure there inexpensive buzzer kits from auto parts stores that you can wire up, if you want to go that route.)

No warning buzzer on mine. I appreciate that Toyo treats me like an intelligent being! I am extra-sensitive. I can tell at a glance whether I need sunglasses or headlights! It is extraordinary! I am glad that Toyo left out the buzzer!

AZ=no rain

It is easy to leave your light on during the day if you turn them on for rain, also easy to do in the morning when you turn them on pre-dawn and shut down after dawn.

both my 80 and my previous vehicle have out off lights, I have noticed i have a tendency to leave the lights on when I drive other vehicles,

I prefer the auto-off of the 80 to the auto-on-and-off-no-control-at-all of my previous vehicle.

My 62 does not turn the lights off. Therefore, jumper cables in the rear storage....always.

On a 62 series, there's a simple mod to change your key in ignition buzzer into a headlight on buzzer.

Great; got a link to this mod?
