Turbo-diesel 60 (13BTJ60) For Sale

Two years after the swap I'm ready to do another one but there's no way my wife will let me have two cruisers. I'd like to try an 1HD-T 80 swap next, which means I've got to sell the 60. Here are the specs:

1987 FJ60 (Light Brown)
13BT direct injected turbo-diesel (purchased from G&S in 2005)
H55f five speed transmission
Dual battery set-up with Painless Wiring isolator
Shimmed waste-gate (6mm)
Stock suspension
eDead interior

Vehicle has roughly 275K, motor/tranny have ~70K miles

The truck, as you can see, is pretty clean. No rust, clean body and interior, well-kept. Not perfect, but if anyone was interested in a low budget aesthetic restoration this would be a great start. I've got 13K asking $10,000. A couple pics

If I read your spects correct this is a 12 volt set up and not 24?
 
Man, I hope my 13b-t looks as good as yours does in your 60. I am interested in seeing your next 1hd-t 80 project, hopefully you will start a thread to follow the progress.

Is this still for sale? Anyone know if it can be registered in Kalifornia? Need to do some more research on that . . . I think if it could have been registered as a gas cruiser in California, then there could be a diesel swap and still have it registered but because toyota diesels were never in the US, that is where the question comes in, or something like that. Don't know if toyota diesels are considered a "legal" swap according to California government. I need to move back home to Oregon . . .

I am doing a power swap with a 45 and before I bought my 12H T from G&S I asked the CA air board (or what ever they are called) if this is allowable here in the L.A. county and they said yes. Where you will have problems is when you try to have some thing imported and it is not 25 years old yet. I think all we need to do is run BD through it and when it is good and flushed out take it and get an emission test on it to verify that it will meet our standards and take the printout with you (providing it is a clean burning motor, no offence to you browndog)and the copy from the air board to DMV proving it complies and register it. If you plane on doing the # swap game then you will need to do just what brown dog did and take a local cruiser with matching frame and VIN #s that is registered in your name and swap every thing over and reregister it as a power swap. But browndog did all of that already and it looks like he did a very good job of it. When you talk to DMV tell them that you heard that there are incentives to do power swaps and if going diesel or Biodiesel counts? If not ask if you can do it any ways with out an incentive. If yes then ask if you can buy one that was already converted? If yes then ask if you can get one from out of state and have it registered? If yes then go and buy browndog’s .
 
The 60 was not shipped to the U.S. with a V8 option ether to my knowledge but V8s are getting installed any ways and are passing all the same. :idea:

The V8 started out in a vehicle that was sold in the US. There are no mass produced toyota diesel vehicles in the US. The diesel laws for California are also changing at the end of 2007. There also is no 25-year rule for California. That is a federal, not state, regulation.
 
Perhaps I need to spell it out to you. In order for a vehicle to be smog tested in California it needs a CARB sticker. If the car was initially sold in the US, then it can be smogged in California. If you imported it then it has to have a CARB sticker. A CARB sticker can easily cost $5k - $10K. If you have an fj60 sold in the US, then you can do a diesel swap. But the diesel engine has to be newer than the vehicle. For example, I have a 1984 fj60. I would have to put a diesel engine in it that is newer than 1984. Diesel engine swaps are also going to be limited to only engines that were sold in the US. This means only US manufacturers, VW, and Mercedes.:idea:

Will miracles never cease. :D Ok you did your homework, now move on and find some thing that you can have. CA does have an 25 year rule. Too bad you can not use it! :idea: :cheers:
