I'd like to add fuel injection to mu carbed 350 in my 72 FJ40. Not that there has ever been a problem with the carb but fuel injection is so trouble free. Anyone tried installing the Holley Fuel injection system in either the open or closed loop form?

Thanks,

Might be cheaper to go to the wrecking yard and get genuine GM throttle body injection. WHY: (a) it uses more sensors to provide the computor with more information, consequently drivability is much better. (b) Used TBI has proven very dependable/trouble free/inexpensive at wrecking yards.

Don't put an older analog system on there if you have a choice. I have one and it is a major Pain. Works great when its working, but has no type of air-flow meter or MAP sensor and is temperamental. The Projection digital is supposed to be better, but I don't think it has a MAP sensor or airflow sensor either. It really is too simple of a system.

I've heard better things about the Holley Commander fuel injection. Looking here:
Holley 950-20S - Holley Commander 950 TBI Kits

I saw that it does use all the sensors you should run for a good fuel injection system, is programmable via laptop, and only costs a few hundred more. IMO that would be the best few hundred bucks you could spend to avoid the major headaches with your FI system.

Also, I've heard good things about the Howell system. I believe it uses mostly GM TBI parts and runs a MAP sensor, oxy sensor and is closed loop.

Magasquirt systems are supposed to be great but are far from plug-and-play. You gotta assemble the whole thing piece by piece.

If I wanted a good, reliable, and somewhat simple and ready to go system, I'd probably by Howell from what I know at this point.

I am by no means an expert, but have done a little research into TBI systems and this is what I know at this point. You'd definitely want to research this further before you drop the coin and make such a big commitment in converting to EFI.

Hope this helps, Brian.
