Hey guys,

I am ready to pull the trigger on a lift kit, but getting gun shy (double pun!) about the ride quality. Anyone in the SF Bay Area with a 1.5" or 2.5" OME kit/shocks that would give me a demo ride in their rig?

There is my endless gratitude and a case of beer of your choice in it for you.

I am not in the BA but I have 2.5 TJM not OME, I do not like OME shock to hard, but TJM tiger shocks are adjustable to 9 settings so you can have very soft or hard

Can you link me to a part number? The only TJM shocks I am seeing online are non-adjustible. What height lift are you running?

I have the OME kit on an LX . I live in the Peninsula but work in the South Bay. It was installed last year but not sure if it is the newly released sport shocks which have horrible reviews. It drives with a manageable firmness compared to my stock 98 LC. I am getting used to it which leads me to the conclusion that the shocks might be previous OME sport shocks. I read good reviews about using the foam cell shocks but that cost twice as much as the OMEs

I have the 2 1/2" OME heavy kit from slee with the slee rear springs and ome sport shocks. Not happy with the shocks or springs!
Very harsh ride on road. Off road they are not bad but I also air down my tires off road to help with the ride.
I do have aftermarket front and rear bumper and typically carry a fair amount of weight so that is why I opted for the heavy kit

I have never tried the iron man foam cells but have heard good things.

I will also say, you will be much happier with how the 1 1/2" kit rides rather than the 2 1/2".
I'm not in the Bay Area but not too far from you, if your ever in the grass valley area your more than welcome to go for a ride with me.

I'm in Oakland. 865s (~1.5"), OME nitro shocks. The t-bars are still toyota, though. If we can work out a time, you can take it for a spin.

It is a harsher ride, but how you feel about it will be relative to where you're coming from. If you're coming from the world of trucks, it's no big deal. It does smooth out with a load in back, and it's definitely better off-road. But when it's unloaded, if there's anything in your vehicle that's prone to rattle or bounce around, you'll feel it around town.

I have the 1.5 inch OME medium kit installed. The ride is harsh for the roads here (you will feel each pot hole). I read somewhere that the springs will eventually soften and make the ride softer. That has not happened. The kit is on the vehicle for nearly 2 years now and the ride is the same. I think I will have to swap out the springs at some point in the future to add comfort. Meanwhile, I am running my tires at a slightly lower PSI than usual. If you want to install a kit be very sure that this is what you want.
