Looking for observed fuel milage...

loaded vs. unloaded on the hwy?

duramax, cummins, powerstroke

I may be looking to get into the deisel game soon and was wondering what kind of fuel milage these trucks get.

May have a line on a 04 Dodge 2500, I-6 Cummunins Auto trans. (don't know if auot trans this year is a problem child or not?)

I have a trailer + land cruiser that weights approx 9K, that I now own. A pickup or other truck with stake bed will serve my overall interests better than the suburban.

I've heard 13mpg loaded with the cummins...anyway if you know first hand post up. Not looking at the 6.0 Ford engine... 7.3 would be good.

Feel free to post up experinece with either trucks (dodge,GM, Ford)..gripes etc...

My father -in-law has a 01 dodge 2500 4wd w\auto got 21mpg with an empty trailer and 19 with a cruiser behind it. was very impressed with it.

I'm 2nd in line on the 04 dodge...hopefully I'll get it. My friend has it for sale and I called the same day I knew about it..yesterday. I know the history of this truck and its been in AL the entire time...so no rust issues and its been maintained.

I'm not a great fan of dodge stuff but the 2500 with the cummins is a great drivetrain...I still think the cabs, wiring issues and other stuff need improvement...but nothing is perfect. I will buy the Dodge if I get the option to do so.

99 Dodge CTD. SWB 2WD. 23 mpg on highway no trailer. Bout 18 with the 40 on a trailer behind it on the way to SCC. Lot's of flat delta land though. I've had 2 Dodges and they both got good mileage.

And that thing could pass some cars on a two-lane road NO PROBLEM!

still no news yet. I do plan to buy it if the opportunity present itself. I though my friend would have already let me know by now but we'll see how it plays out.

i've got an 04 6 speed 4wd crew cab, when it had stock wheels and tires, i would easily get 21 on the interstate. Now with 35 inch mud tires, barely 17 on highway, and with truck and trailer like 11-13

You're so badass that your rig does it backwards!
You should be getting better mileage with bigger tires on the Interstate.... now in town would bring the suck... but highway is lower RPM with bigger tires...

thats what i thought, but its opposite, the boost is always higher now on the interstate.
