I'm wondering if it interferes with the auto headlight sensor. The heat in middle TN is brutal in the summer, so I'm looking for a better solution that a shade.
Manual says ANYTHING on windshield can interfere with the functionality. I could just live without "auto" lights, I guess, but I'd rather not if I dont have to.
Either way, I'd like to know just so I could make an informed decision.

I need this badly, the heat coming in the windscreen is baking my phone to the point of non-functionality. The auto-light and auto-wiper sensors are a secondary thing compared to the heat intrusion.

I believe they cut the same place as the AS-1 line (where you have tint/color on it now. like top 5 inches of the windshield). theres a area around the mirror that doesnt have the same tint to it as the rest of the top of the windshield does, so the auto wiper is safe. I forgot what else is in there. Not the front camera, but maybe cruise control radar?? I know theres other sensors/stuff in the mirror housing

Have you considered running a strip of tinted vinyl to run across the top of your windshield?
I'm thinking the type of thick vinyl used for side windows that can be laid on and peeled off as needed.
During the Summer months you can lay that strip across the top of your windshield, have come down as low as needed/legal and leave it on all summer. Then when it cools down, peel it off and stow it till next year.

I tinted my front windshield with 30% ceramic a few months ago. No issues with auto headlights or wipers. Significant improvement to cab temps.
Notice any difference in nighttime visibility?

in my state, i can go as dark as i want up to the AS-1 line, and i was planning on, but i dont think that will keep the car cool, or prevent the dash from cracking, etc, I think it'll only help for the same reason as when i need to use my visors. just my intuitive feeling. i could be wrong.

removing seems like its a whole process

I have that tint on GS because the sloped windshield lets a lot of sun hit my chest and legs, unlike the GX. But if I had to do it over, I wouldn’t bother. It hasn’t made any noticeable difference.

Correction. I did 70, not 30 (70 percent transmission) so its not that dark. I did 30 on the side to match the factory on the backs. No issues at night. Cant hardly tell during the day other than you don’t need sunglasses to stop squinting. Installer told me ceramic blocks almost all heat no matter what you go with. Went with 30 becuase cops can’t really notice unless their looking for it.

I have the SunTek CIR80 in my windshield. Even at 80VLT I don’t need sunglasses during morning/evening commutes and my black interior stays cool. I have the CIR product on every window, just varying VLT levels.

One note of caution… my ceramic tint has a slight haze which I researched and found was universal to ceramic tints. It ‘s mostly noticeable on the side windows where I look through them at a 45 degree angle (looking past side mirrors). It’s most noticeable when the windows are totally clean which is a bit counterintuitive.

That's good to know. Thankfully I just need my windscreen done. I'll be getting my old side window tint on each door removed and new normal style tint put on in the future. The rear quarter windows and back window might get limo tint. LOL

One other note about tints that I just thought of was if you wear polarized sunglasses, some tints will look a little weird through it.
My RayBans are polarized and sometimes I see it on car windshields when driving.
If you wear polarized glasses, you may want to take a look at a sample of the tint with your glasses on before committing to the tint job.

Forgot about that. Mine have a very slight rainbow when I'm wearing polarized. I don't even notice it anymore because it's slight, might be because I went so light on the windshield, it could be worse the darker you go.
