Anyone have experience with ARB locker in 200?

I searched and could not find anything significant from 200 owners who wheel: before ARB locker was installed and then after.

This week I'll have my rear ARB locker installed at Slee (along with a number of other items), but Im hoping some can chime in on their experience.

Does ATRAC work normally on the front two wheels with the locker engaged? What about crawl control? Turn assist can't possibly work, so what happens if you try to use it with the locker on?

Is switching between the locker on and then back to crawl control flawless? How does the OEM system "know" not to try to control the rear wheels independently?

you might find answers from Google or 4R/FJC forums

I don't own a 200 yet, I am just a lurker but atrac detects wheel slippage and applies the brakes so with the rear locker on, the rear will not slip so you won't need or have atrac in the rear. The front diff should work normal with atrac as designed. As for crawl control, I would guess that it would do fine, it will still adjust the throttle to maintain speed and will probably do what it needs in the front diff to maintain traction and the rear that is locked will think it has traction which should work great.
Take this all with a grain of salt since I am not an owner of an atrac vehicle, but as a shopper I have wondered these same things and this is my educated guess after a decent amount of (google) research.

aMiR904 has front and rear ARB's - PM him as he might be able to answer your questions
thanks

I am no means an expert - Slee or another will surely have a more technical answer. I do have a 200 locked front & rear arb's. T

Does ATRAC work normally on the front two wheels with the locker engaged? >> If front not locked then yes.

What about crawl control? >> I don't use crawl control when locked similar to atrac - only lock up when etremely technical.

Turn assist can't possibly work, so what happens if you try to use it with the locker on? >> I don't have turn-assist therefore have not used. I believe it uses braking as well therefore don't use if needing to be locked. If you're front locked you would not want to be tight turning anyhow.

Is switching between the locker on and then back to crawl control flawless? >> I typically use lockers for ascending very technical terrain where I use Crawl Control for descending. But to answer your question it's literally flipping locker off and crawl on.

How does the OEM system "know" not to try to control the rear wheels independently? >> OEM systems kick in when spinning, braking, etc. - when locked there's no independent spin.

Locked to comfortably get up last section of Chloride Cliff in Death Valley - a few other trucks sat at base of the climb.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Some good info. I guess I didn't think that the system (ATRAC and crawl control) won't detect slip of the locker is engaged. I guess my concern is adding aftermarket parts to a highly advanced system.

Basically I don't want part of the truck to be "trying" to do one thing but fighting against itself; I.e., trying to brake 1 rear wheel with the locker engaged.

I've owned an FJ with ATRAC and the factory e-locker, but crawl control is a new animal for me. I wheel a ton but I'm still figuring out the nuances of crawl control. Seems either too fast or too slow, but it also is excellent at finding traction where there isn't any. It also engages the ATRAC system at lower rpm, whereas regular ATRAC has a "sweet spot around 1200-1600 rpm.

The turn assist feature-I would not anticipate trying to use this with the locker on, my question is more of the nature "will this wreck something in the rear end" if I tried that. I want to make sure since I'm adding aftermarket stuff, it plays nice with OEM.

I appreciate the helpful tips from people with experience.

Since I have not had the chance to try out my crawl control, this is great information. My 100 series ATRAC is awesome, so I am very hopefully that the 200 series (LX for me) is even better!
