Anyone have an interior spare setup and like it?

I've had mine inside for most of the time I've owned it, and except for when a new tire goes in I can't smell it. The new tire smell goes away in a few weeks. I have to admit, I enjoyed that smell, I love new tires and rarely get them. I'm sure it would get old, but it doesn't stick around long enough.

Lol I am special, a life time of hunting has caused my sense of smell to become highly developed like a real predator. I can smell elk from 1000 yards away. JK lol

It’s not an issue. Time spent hunting or otherwise.

I couldn't stand the smell of a tire in my rig all the time.

Same. It got old, fast.

I’m only into the smell of tires when I’m buying a new set at a shop - other than that, I rather they hang around outside, no matter if UV/ozone does some damage.
Seems they only stink incabin on hot days - so another ‘plus’ IMO for you Southern guys to do some sort of outside setup.

But both me & the 80 are snowflakes, not like I’m arguing approach angles or ‘I’m doing Moab’ here.

I think the high heat here cooks the smell out faster. Or I'm smell-challenged.

I've had tires on the inside of the rig back when I had a FJ45LV (stock loctation by the way) and I didn's notice any smell at all. I now run one on the inside of my 80 and again, I smell nothing.

I prefer the spare inside and not hassling with a swing out. But that’s just me. There are trade offs for either. The inside of the wheel makes for an easily accessible storage solution for straps. The Slee stripper pole is great for holding soft shackles. If designing it myself I would have it clamp to the third row seat bracket rather than bolt through the floor. Cot soon to be replaced by a drawer/sleeping platform. I’ll confirm a BFG A/T does not smell.

It’s super comfy when I put my Exped Megamat on it. I’ve never slept on just the cot but doubt it’s very comfortable. Probably still provides more pressure relief than the floor. It does hang over the folded second row seat nicely. $30 Magellan variety.
