Hey guys - so i've got a 2F wit the 2 belt main pulley - one for the alternator/water pump, one for the power steering....but i need to add an a/c compressor....and i am wondering if anyone has tried sharing the power steering belt with a compressor - or is it absolutely necessary to get a 3-groove-er?

my set up is with the alternator on the drivers side, power steer on the upper passenger side - with the a/c compressor destined to go below the p/s pump - passenger side...

help!

I just picked up a parts 60 with a 2 groove pulley and aftermarket a/c. they mounted it below the alternator, which is on our pass. side

I'll try and get some pics in the am.

Here's some pics of a 2F w/ aftermarket AC and alternator on one belt, and PS on the other belt. I don't have a pic of the final product, but it did get a proper 2F 2 groove water pump pulley, which then allowed the WP to be driven by both belts.

So, it is possible. I've seen two FJ60 with this AC setup.

ooooooooo, so shiny!

thanks a bundle, mine is a middle eastern spec however, with the p/s pump on the passenger side - alternator on the drivers, with little extra room for a compressor due to the air box - it is intended to be mounted under the p/s pump on the passenger side - but the big question is: will the compressor take needed power away from the p/s pump? or vice versa?

am having a question about this "ianfotheringham's" set up; it has the Alt on the DS.............any one have experience using a 2 groove system to run a PS along with AC on an early fj55? a 74 F 1 1/2; they have the alt. on the drivers side; did not come with smog pump.......trying to sort this out beforehand; TIA,
Lou

2 groove pulley AC & PS

was thinking of running the AC on the PS and the Alt + PS on the DS; both Belts driving the WP on the 1 1/2 F.......comments welcome;TIA;

2 belts to run AC, PS And Alt ?

.......trying to figure this one out:confused: has any one run the AC on the Passengers side and the Alt + Power steering pump on the Drivers side?; both Belts driving the Water pump on an F or 1 1/2 F.......TIA

Do-able w/ custom or aftermarket brackets. The F is missing the PS bolt holes on the upper left block, and some are missing accessory holes on RH cylinder head.

The F air cleaner will be in the way of adding a PS pump above the stock alternator. Have to decide to move the air cleaner, or move the PS pump.

Suggestion:
Use the 2F alt bracket, moving the alternator to the top RH position.
Mount Sag PS pump down low on LH side, using aftermarket bracket.
Fab a mount to put AC below alternator. If alt. & PS are moveable, then AC can be fixed and other accesory can be used as tensioner.

Anything is possible w/ enough MIG wire and angle iron.

Jim, thanks again:clap:; any ideas on aftermarket brackets?....:hhmm:sources?; am not a good metal fabber:frown: TIA

There is a bracket from Bill Dorry that mounts a sag pump down low. Search for more info.

Dunno about a AC mount under the alternator, unless you got the whole motor mount/compressor/alternator bracket setup off a factory AC FJ60. But the 60 stuff might not fit in the skinnier nose of a 40 or 50 series.

Jim, the one I have is from an fj 55........was planning to put it on my 74 pig along with the PS:princess:request.....can't believe it but she honestly enjoys the pig:D
