Hey guys. I'm hoping someone on here is a wiz with wiring diagrams and could give me some input.

I've been working towards doing a stereo swap in my '02 LC, which has factory nav. If you have a nav unit, you've very likely come across the project post trying to figure this out. One person has been successful and I'm trying to do it another way. I'm essentially thinking about swapping out the wiring harness in the dash for a harness out of a non-nav car. I do have a stereo shop on standby for when things inevitably go wrong. :doh:

Pre 03 Factory NAV to Double Din, Climate Knobs Conversion?

What I'm trying to figure out though, is if a '98 harness will work in my '02. My biggest concern is that there was no rear AC in '98, which would mean I'd lose control over cooling down two kids and a dog from the front seat and that's just not really an option.

So, if you happen to be good with wiring diagrams, I'm hoping you can spot the differences in the two harnesses and tell me if I'm going to lose anything major.

Index of /landcruiser/wiring

The diagrams are separated into their respective folder by year.

For filenames:

98 = 1998
02 = 2002
CF = Condenser Fan
FAC = Front Air Conditioning
RAC = Rear Air Conditioning
wo = without

At this point, I might end up at the audio shop trying to figure this out, but I'll gladly pay money to get the upgrade.

Thanks in advance!

I do not have the wiring harness yet, but it's about 50% cheaper than the others right now so I'd like to find out of it'll work. Not to mention it'll give others one more year of available parts that can be used for swaps. Anything between '99 and '02 should work fine. I hope...

Just thinking out loud here, but couldn't you cut and splice out all the stereo wires and run a separate head unit? Keeping the Nav functional? Maybe mount a single din stereo like a CB radio? I would think that would be way easier if you're willing to go that route.

If I'm cutting and splicing wires, then I might as well just drop the old and useless nav system. That can, and has been done, but definitely not what I'm looking for.

I might end up splicing the wires like redjet did on this page:

Also, where are you at in Yorba Linda? I grew up here! My wife and I currently live near Weir Canyon Honda. Close to the Jack in the Box. Cool to know another 100 is driving around!

I'm right by Yorba Linda Middle School! I think we may have the only two 100 series in the city. I've only seen two other brand new LC's around.
