I have a great opportunity with a UT medical group but have zero clue about the area. It’s not worth it...if the schools, crime, environment, etc. are poor. Any honest insight would be greatly appreciated. I do know one thing and i would live on the east side of town “Farragot”sp area.

Update; I meant west side of town. Big difference apparently. Lol

Worked there one summer few years ago. Seemed like a nice place. Reminded me of the Ozark mountain area I'm in now. Lakes and hills.

Awesome area, its a gold mine for an outdoor enthusiast and there is always something going on. We love spending time in the National Park its literally in the backyard. My folks have lived in Pigeon Forge for 25 years and we spend a lot of time in the area. I'm partial to the South East area because its close to the NP. Not familiar with Farragot but Maryville, Oak Ridge, Sevierville are all nice family friendly communities about 30 min or so commute. Years ago I interviewed with several companies trying to get up there myself but the Telecom jobs were all tied down long term and I missed my window with my wife. I would love to live there. Good luck with your decision

I grew up in Knoxville. Its a fun college town. There is some really cool stuff happening in Knoxville. One of my best friends owns an awesome micro brew pub called Elkmont exchange. Go check it out. The guys at rocky top customz did a lot of the work to my Land Cruiser. I don’t live there any more.

As a native Tarheel (or Tarhole, if you prefer) who recently moved back to NC after living in CO, all I can add is this. If you really, REALLY love CO then you'll likely end up disappointed. I miss CO, and I'll continue to visit often, but the east coast is where my roots are. I imagine if you're really invested in CO and the lifestyle and opportunities it provides, you'll feel shortchanged. If you aren't married to CO then that area is a very nice place to work and play, and is experiencing a lot of investment and growth.

I just checked out your buddies restaurant on yelp. Great reviews, the brew and food look right up our alley. We will definitely make it a point to stop in for lunch when we’re there checking the area out. I was just going to ask if anyone in the area is familiar with 200’s but you answered my question. Thanks! Pm me your name and I’ll give you a plug when i stop in if you like.

I love CO more than my wife. She has a sister in NC that doesn’t have the means we have to travel and would allow her to visit us much more often

If you move down there and buy or build a house my family owns a tile distribution company in Knoxville. Let me know and I'll hook you up. Stay outta the big box stores.

Good to know! Thank you. We will build if nothing fits our criteria.

Sure thing. Just pm me if you go through with it. My pleasure

I live and have my medical practice in Knoxville. Grew up in Farragut and now live a little north in Hardin Valley. Let me know if I can help with something.

I live in Farragut, and have lived in Knoxville for 36 years. Great place to live, plenty to do, low crime rate (basically non existent in Farragut), and plenty of fun trails all around. Mountain biking and good beer is pretty big here, if you're interested.

One of the biggest Land Cruiser shops in town, Rocky Top Customz, is located in Farragut as well. As is the Toyota (and Lexus) dealership.

I've got some friends from CO that miss home and like to make fun of the "tiny" Smoky Mountains, but they still like it here. I've moved away twice but keep coming back.

Arrange your visit with the monthly local TLCA chapters meet and get some first hand experience.

Thank you for the reply. I would love to come out for the local TLCA but will have to put that on hold until my second second or trip out. My family and I are flying out April 8-10 for interviewing and they have us pretty tied up on the 9th and then being driven around on the 10th by a realtor to get a feel for the area and pop into a couple of homes. I’m pretty sure my wife is going to accept the job and if all works out, will be moved into the area by end of July and hopefully have home purchased by end middle of May.

I love good beer and used to race mountain bikes in my early days but have taken up road cycling, however could easily get back into mountain biking if trails are plentiful. Need to brush up on my skills.

IMO Village Green is the best neighborhood in Farragut for young families. If you don't have young kids its just a nice normal neighborhood, and there are plenty of those if Farragut.

We are looking in that area as well. Coming out in two weeks to house hunt and tour the area. How is the Berkeley Park neighborhood?

From the little I've heard about it, it's loud (interstate noise and a Catholic Churchs bells), overpriced for the area, and the HOA is a nightmare. I was told by a previous resident that if your yard wasn't mowed every 7 days that you would get a "notice" from the HOA to mow it and that if you didn't, they would send someone to do and send you the bill.

You know how it is though, you only hear the bad stories...never the good.

I’m trying to find less noise and a little more elbow room. I think we will stick a little more south of 40
