Hi - I'm starting to look for a new 3/4 tub and came across Vintage 4x4 Parts company on Ebay. They sell tubs (made in South America) and the price seems very fair. As they say, buyer beware if the price looks too good. Any feedback on this company would be appreciated. Thanks

They have good feedback on eBay. I don't see why they would be a "bad seller".

Ebay feedback has limited value. You can not really leave bad feedback anymore. When you try ebay tries some sort of mediation to solve the issue and it never shows as negative. The best you can do is leave neutral.

Hello, I am also looking at this companies tubs. have you had any further connection withthem? i have asked many ebay questions, most get answered but critical ones are left vague, unanswered or with little description to instill confidence. not sure if a language barrier or whatnot but spending 7k with someone is not a small purchase to have a vague answer. Any further info or experience/guidance would be great. thank yoU!

I'd be very wary of non-US tubs or parts actually fitting. If you can't see the tub in the US before purchasing, I wouldn't buy it.

I just went through this painful process of getting a tub. The best one out there in my opinion is from CCOT. But it will cost you $10k. I did not have that budget. I then looked at Vintage and Land Cruiser Heaven. Both get tubs out of Columbia I believe. Covid had slowed them down a lot back in April. I also had communication issues with both companies. My gut told me not to buy from them. Since I’m not doing a trailer queen restoration, I went with an aluminum tub from Aqualu. Tub arrived in 2 weeks. Crate it came in was beat to all heck, but the tub had only minor scratches. Mounting holes lined up nearly perfect. It’s very well made and I had my original trans cover modified to fit the tub instead of using the cover that comes with it. Hope this helps.

thank you :) makes sense, I haven’t decided which company yet, trying to have a call With vintage4x4. Going steel route since trying to make as factory as possible. Will update this thread as I proceed/learn :). Cheers

You are far better off with this decision.

I've also been looking at the half tub from vintage 4x4 parts, I've requested more pictures and submitted a few more questions. The few pictures they have on ebay look good....but i would like to see more. They do have I believe a 60 day return, which would be somewhat a PITA but better than nothing. I'm 50/50 at this point.

My buddy got one of the aluminum tubs and it is nice, but the alignment is not very good at all for the doors and top. I'm not sure if it was the Aqualu.

Did you go with the Vintage 4x4? If so, what are your thoughts?

Hi- I did not. At the time they were way behind on orders due to covid. I was also concerned about quality with the tubs being out of Columbia. Believe any tubs out of Columbia come from the same builder in Columbia. The tubs are hit or miss with quality. I decided to go aluminum. I’m in the snow belt and just did not want to deal with rust. My tub from aqualu was great and fit for install to tub and frame was nearly perfect. Only issue was that the drivers side fender has a bit of a swale in it. Not noticeable but was able to fix it with some filler when I blocked the tub prior to paint.

ive been looking at them for a top and bows for my wifes 69 fst that im restoring

I recently had a bad experience with them; very unprofessional. Long story short, I bought a blemished soft top at a discount on eBay that was described as the entire soft top including the rear section (upper barn door material). When the top arrived there was no rear section. Seller did acknowledge that it was his mistake, but he claimed to be having difficulty getting the material from South America. He eventually stopped communicating. I opened a dispute claim with eBay then Paypal because eBay mistakenly closed the case and wouldn’t reopen it. PayPal did right by refunding. Never heard back from seller.

I bought both the tub and the floor for a 72. The stuff is really well done. Things line up really really well. welds and seams are clean...

I would Highly recommend them.

I bought a new tub for a 1972 from them and it is very good quality. The shop I am working with works on quite a few Broncos, Jeeps, Range Rover's...they really like the quality.

Good Luck

update: I ended up purchasing a JDM tub from an 83 bj42 which is RHD. I will connect This tub to my firewall which is good.

went this route as it was to much of a gamble for me on the South American tubs. They look good in photos and such. If I was to do that route I found a company in Costa Rica that makes quality stuff, problem or benefit… is have to spend a month there, to get it out of country. nothing is as easy as it seems.

My jdm Tub was with minor rust, only a couple of spots i can see as they coated the underside in Japan. Bought a frame and fenders from same deal from same truck. Will use parts of them as needed.

I still wonder if CruiserCorps and real steel panels and sections would have been better choice to fix what I have.

I guess it’s just picking a lane and moving the ball forward.
