When I shut off my 60 the gas tank gargles. Like it creates a vacuum while running. whats the deal, do they all do this or do i have something goin on

when it is hot mine does- but I dont have my charcoal canister. FJ40JIM will hopefully chime in with the fix- requires moving some of the hoses on the canister around.

Check your vents for the tank. You have the factory smog manual? There is a section in there describing what to check.

I've got this too, so hopefully someone will chime in. I don't have the emissions FSM

I don't have an emissions FSM either and i'm hoping this could be part of my starting problem

Yeah, the vents are plugged. Its pretty easy to fix. I did it once upon a time...

No GARGLE here...but I'm interested in the solution.

The solution is simple. On top of the canister there are two smaller hoses and one large hose.
Simply disconnect the 2 small hoses and swap them. The one from the tank should end up connected to a port labeled "purge" and the purge hose to engine ends up connected to the tank port.

This usually eliminates the gargle. More importantly, it significantly reduces the pressure/vacuum buildup in the tank, thereby fixing the cracking fuel tank issue.
