I drove the 6 spd and thought it was very nice. Short throw. Smooth engagement. Well gated gears that are easy to find. but.... wouldn't buy one. Reason is kinda stupid but I found that the visibility was restricted enough that I didn't find shifting gears while turning or doing a lane change to be comfortable. It might be something I would get used to but I am currently driving a LR discovery std so I am kind of used to having huge windows everywhere.

I think the automatic will solve that feeling for me but will not know for sure until tonight. I will try to remember to come back and reply with my auto impression after tonights test drive in it.

Ok, just got back from a test drive of the auto. I prefer it over the manual. I would be using this as a DD so city traffic is factoring into that preference.

Also, the visibility seems to be something you definately get used to. I didn't notice the C pillar nearly as much as my first ride.

Our 6 speed was on the ground for a total of 30 minutes before it was sold. I did not get a chance to drive it.

I have a six speed and love the manual. Quick throws and the selections are easy to make. Downshifts beautifully. My only peeve is that the engine revs quickly buts spools down slowly, this is due to the fuel injection computer I am told. Glad I ordered the manual. My wife has a Lexus RX and was dissappointed when it only came in auto.
Someone once remarked that automatics were made for people who wanted to drive, but just couldn't get the hang of it..
