Anyone done an ARB install themselves?

You'll have to set your gears which requires a dial indicator and the "feel" for doing it right. Big down side if you get it wrong.

I'm gonna guess from your other thread you are talking about a bumper????

If so, it is fairly simple. Little bit of drilling.
You will need someone to hold it in place.

I followed sbechtold threads and it gave me the confidence to do it myself....My tiny girlfriend and I lifted it up with the winch installed in it.. 180 lbs I think....for me wiring the fog lights was the tricky part. Follow sbechtolds instructions on that too. ....i think.....

I installed it myself in the backyard with a couple jackstands in about 4 hrs, winch install included. It all depends on your mechanical abilities. It's definitely not beyond a backyard mechanic. Good luck.

I think everyone has it right. There is no need to pay someone to do it more than a case of beer and do it in the driveway. The good thing with ARB is that they always have good, clear and concise directions.

Not real hard

It took me and a weak nerd friend of mine about 3.5 hours to put it on. Including the driving lights.

Enjoy.

It cost about $250.00 for a shop to do it.

I bolted it on and as with others, I needed help. Neighbors came, beverages were iced, pizza ordered. The bumper/winch went right on.

can you put the winch on at any time after the ARB bumper install? or do they have to be done at the same time? One shop I spoke to says i can add it any time the way the ARB is designed... then other shop says it has to be done the same time.

I was originally going to put on a winch afterwards, but realizing the bar would have to be taken off to install, I did it one time to save the hassel later. It would be a PITA to do it all over again.

I'm glad I did because I've used it a couple times already.

The winch must go on first...period. I have installed two. You'll have a tough time changing from cable to synthetic without removing the bumper much less adding a winch. Don't ever use the shop who told you otherwise. A good jack or a strong friend are necessary. You need some electrical knowledge installing the turn signals. Good luck.
