Need a hand removing my bumper from my truck so I can finish welding it. Managed to get it on myself, but the 4x4 labs bumper is :censor: heavy, and could use a hand getting it back off so I can finish welding it, clean it up, then paint.

Sorry :( Im tied up. Thats cool, didnt know you picked up a 4x4

No probs. Gonna take the pup to the dog park and wear him out.

Yeah, let me just run over... Oh wait, thats a 45 min drive... Maybe you could just let the air out your tires and have a couple blocks under it, slide it off then air up again.. Sorry I am too far away, I spent my evening working on my septic tank, wouldn't miss that for anything!

So D3fiant swung by yesterday and not only helped me get it off the truck, but helped with welding it up.

Got it about 90% done right now.

i cant wait to see this bumper finished, after seeing how nice and well designed that kit is i 'm kinda thinking im gonna have to get one for myself.

yet another item gets added to the to do/wish list.

Have fun. I was hopin' I could squeeze it in but have other things to do, I hope y'all take lots of pics..

woo hoo!

So thanks to Nick who gave me a hand at getting it off the truck without taking out my exhaust, and doing some welding, this is the final result.

Spent a lot of time with the grinder. Weld, grind, reweld, regrind, reweld, regrind.... Mostly just filling in gaps and taking off the high spots, then finally finishing off with a flap disk. The shiny corner on the left was a seam between the bumper and the wing, the large shiny area on the right was a big 'ol hole where the bumper was supposed to fit with the wing (but didn't). That required a lot of fill. The open square hole is where one of the recovery points mounts.

Worlds heaviest tow chain hooks. Since you can't reuse the OEM mounting hooks, I decided to go ahead and use them for tow hooks, they'd also work as a recovery point in a pinch. They're welded on three sides, then I rosette welded the two bolt holes. Those suckers ain't goin' no where.

And here's what it looks like when it's pretty much done. I'm cheating a bit because this was one of the test fits (rather than the final product). Still, look at all that ground clearance!

looks good, but youre worse with a camera than i am :flipoff2:

Hey I could have busted out the expensive DSLR, but didn't want to get it dirty, so I'm blaming the pics on the cell phone camera. :hillbilly:

i hear that, my s***ty cam took a spill the other day, and surprisingly didnt die. the last one wasnt so lucky.

Looks good Gabe! When are you going to test it??? :D

Was hoping over the weekend, but between not having everything done and not getting Sunday off, just wasn't doable. :frown:

I still need to test my shocks, which were installed months ago.
