Hi guys,

I'm looking at buying a new welder as my old one is in England and I now live in Australia. I'm looking at a Lincoln Power Mig 180, I was also looking at the Miller Weldmatic 175 but this is twice the price of the Lincoln at $2400 and i can't justify that at the minute.

I am an experienced mig welder having run a body shop but have never used a Lincoln mig so any comments would be appreciated!

Thanks

Adam

X2 on Kyles comments. No issues with mine either and has a novice welder, I have had no problems using it.

Also take a look at the ThermalArc welders. They are about the same quality but 30% less than the other two brands you are looking at. I ended up getting a lot more welder for the same money as one of the Red or Blue boxes. I have had no problems so far and a local fabricator that I know thought they are on par with the other brands. Figured a pro should know!

Check the specs and talk to a dealer in your area.

I built this with the welder a couple months ago. Though i'm just learning how to weld still and not a pro I had little trouble with even thick welds and liked the reserve power of my 210. It will do 1/2 plate single pass.

Though lincons may not hold up quite as long as the Miller, they do work well. If it is for your shop, you may want to consider the extra $, but for personal lincons are just fine.

I've had mine for a while now and use the spool gun for aluminum and it works
great:)

Had to re-learn how to weld again but was worth the effort;p

Good luck;)

If you try aluminum let me know.

The WIA/Miller comes with the Euro gun, which can be disconnected easier and parts are pretty much universal, polarity change is easier, if you ever need to. The Weldmatic 175 looks to be what I'll be getting in a few weeks time, just shop around and find the best deal.
