i can get 55 gallons sponsered to me, just wondering if its worth it to retune the motor,or if its not worth it

I ran 100LL 50/50 w/92 octane. It ran great no ping (med comp. V8) burned white in the tail pipe. 100LL is in reality closer to 115. be careful the stuff can flash and ruin your day. Ground yourself if you can while fueling. By the way the LL stands for low lead. I don't know what lond term effects this low lead it will have on cats.

MArk at metaltech has a 40 that used to be run on it.

Personly, I would not worry..

Or, just use the 55 gals and don't retune..

used to run it on wed. night drags and run the same motors on regular as a DD.

I sell 100ll and run it all the time. It burns very clean and cooler than premium. It will clean out the carbon deposits as well. I wouldn't waist my time by mixing it. That is very cool that someone gave that to you since it is $5 a gallon.

100LL is fine in anything that doesn't have O2 sensors or cats. When I was in A&P school I ran it all the time in my 40 (freebie) and advanced the timing a few degrees. It ran great but of course any older engine will love the lead. The octane rating does not transfer directly because of differing measurement methods.

some gee whiz:

6.19 talks about avgas but otherwise not a bad read.

As a side note Jet A works great in every diesel vehicle I have ever tried it in.

When cats first came out my grandpa did a lot of work on cars from people running leaded in the unleaded only cars. The lead hits the cat and gets it so hot everything cat back will start melting and warping and eventually can (if ran for long enough) flat out melt off the exhaust post-cat.

If you're running an older (pre smog) cruiser or any engine that is not O2 sensor or cat dependant then go for it :D

Hey,
You can run it if you need the extra octane. If you have detonation or high compression the extra octane could benefit you, if your engine is not detonating or running high compression you could very well make less HP. The lead TEL in the gas will foul the plugs and deposit in the combustion chamber. The exhaust system will become contaminated with the TEL lead and actually be toxic, kinda like eating old paint chips. Welding the exhaust after using leaded gas will become a little more difficult, because the lead will contaminate the weld zone. If your engine needs the octane it will work like nothing else, if it doesn't its a waste and actually has the above downsides.

I didn't see you were running a 350. If you're not running a cat and have any performance mods the fuel may just be worth running even in a mixed ratio. If your setup uses a cat converter then I would HIGHLY reccommend not using it. If you have any friends near who are into old hot-rods they'd be the crew to talk to about that. I do not know if the light lead would hurt the injectors on the EFI or not since EFI came out long after unleaded fuels.

ran av gas, my cuzzin works for the peeps that refuel! thurs night drags! hell we even ran nitro from rc cars. anyone else try that???
