Wanted Anybody in the Houston area willing to go look at a lx470 for me? I'd pay any fuel cost.

Found a land cruiser local to me. It' s a 2001 with 168k miles. In the last 20k miles, timing belt, new stereo, new terragrapplers... has hail damage, paint fade on the hood, interior has normal wear but not terrible. He is asking 11k, I'm positive I can get him at 9k.

buy it if it's 9k if you don't mind the hood. must do a good inspection though if that was the first time the owner replaced the timing belt. normal is 90-100k, but if he waited till 150k to replace it what else did s/he neglect?

that kind of mileage without such a cosmetic defect i've seen for 10k, so unless you're paying more through a dealer or seller is jacking up prices it's about fair. do a thorough check obviously in person. look for timing belt sticker, listen for exhaust manifold tick, make sure the center diff lock works etc. harder color to find for a new hood.

I would grab it depending on:

How bad is the hood?
How bad is the hail damage?
What kind of maint records are available?

It is in Chattanooga DR71. The hail damage was pretty bad, the window needed to be replaced, the sunroof didn't work, and after the test drive I noticed a tick and the smell of burnt oil . I decided to pass. Thanks for the advice

I'd definitely appreciate that bud, I have drove from Birmingham to Starkville, Chattanooga, Atlanta twice , Mobile and Asheville N.C. all in the last month. It' been a very frustrating few weeks .

I know the feeling from when I bought my first 80 and the 470 I bought last week. Went from Chattanooga to Atlanta and back, next day knoxville then back to atlanta to buy the one I saw the day before.
