..Thinking about alternatives to the aftermarket carpet kits.......

--ZERO

Not a 60, but a 55. I Herculined it from front to back, firewall, front kick panels, door sills, rear sides up to the bottom of the windows, and the tailgate. Looks good, cut down on some of the noise. Im sure since Rhino goes on thicker, that it would be even better. I may still carpet it, but Ill do it myself with marine carpet. Im all about the cheap. Ive got pics, but theyre big, so email me if you want me to send the to you. Hope that helped. Hodag

My buddy has an International Travelall with the floor, doors, and roof Rhino lined. It really helped that thing with the noise levels and cleanout is a snap w/ the Hotsy.

As soon as I tackle the rust issues its exactley what I am going to do! I think a gallon or two of Durabak would look mighty mean in there!

Yeah, the cool thing about that stuff is that it comes in colors. You could match the basic color of the carpet or get close to the paint too. And at around $80-$100 a gallon, it's not a bad deal for an interior. If they warranty it might be a deal. I just wish Rhino liner was as cheap.

yeah, but remember with those colors.

if it's just a tad off from the carpet or the paint it'll look a lot worse than black

This is true. Rhino Liner claims they can color match to whatever your specific needs are, but I'm sure that drives the price up even further than the $350 or so it'd cost already.....

$350?
where'd you get that quote? the one around here gave me an estimate of $500.

maybe i should check around a bit more before counting rhino out

Sorry, that was a guestimate based on the Rhino website and the cost of a friend's pickup bed. I was also thinking of only lining the cargo area and tailgate. HOwever after thinking on it some more, I think I'd actually want to do the entire carpeted area inside, which I'm sure would be closer to $500. Durabak may be the better choice there......

I'd like to know how it goes for you, I was thinking of doing something similar to my FJ62. the carpeting in the back and on the tailgate has been killed over the years, not worried so much about the rest.

I did the entire interior of my BJ60, as well as a little outside work with Hurculiner. Took two cans. I did put the carpet back on though, for now. I do not think it is thick enough to really help with sound (I rolled it on, two coats). A thicker application would be better, shot with a gun. That would use up more goop, and cost more. Lots of prep work.

I Hurculined my samurai tub. Just make sure that you DONT use to much on the first coat. You should still be able to SEE the bed color on the first coat.

For the cargo and tailgate I used a universal truck bed mat. Heavy duty chorded rubber about 1/4 in. thick '6 x '8 left plenty to do the tailgate and go up on the sides even with the wheel wells. About $80 shipped.

How inert are these products for in cab use?
Say you're coming back to your "lined" rig after it's been baking under the sun on really hot day and your windows shut tight.
Are you breathing fumes and is there any smell at all?

None of that is an issue. I dont know the particulars of the chemicals, but it's good stuff.
