I guess SLEE,TRD, TLC, KING, DONAHOE, ALL-PRO, DEMELLO, OME, ARB, TJM, FABFOUR and the TLCA, as well as every major OFFROAD magazine, wheel and suspension manufacturer, offroad product company and the HUGE following the FJCRUISER has had within 1 YEAR on the market means TOYOTA did not target this market?

The FJ CRUISER has been on the market for 1 year. Within that time, you can now get a larger selection of aftermarket armor and suspension than the 60, 80 and 100 series combined.

RIGHT NOW, you can get a coilover suspension bolt-in upgrade, ARB lockers, regear, front/rear bumpers (from a big selection), expedition quality roofracks, storage drawers, crawler box, 100's of add-ons geared for offroad, a factory TRD offroad pkg, plus custom show FJC's pointing to OFFROAD-focused versions (like the TRD pickup, the Ultimate Adventure FJC, tons of offroad show FJC's).

That is YEAR 1.

What did YEAR 1 of the FJ60 look like? what about 1990 for the FJ80 or 1998 for the UZJ100?

Like it or not, the FJC is focused on this market. Not convinced? Good, Toyota set up the Toyota Trails Team so that you can decide based on actual seat time.

hey,

I did not say that i didn't like the FJ Cruiser....in fact if I could afford it I would have one. I think they are super capable SUVS right off of the factory lot, as shown by the stock FJ that made it through the rubicon.

And you list of manufacturers that have built things for the FJ, with the exception of TRD are not Toyota owned. They all built those things for the FJ just like everyone made things for the H2 and H3(I am not comparing the FJ with the h2 and h3). They did it for the money.

I think Toyota had good intentions with the FJ Cruiser and I think they have a desirable product as you mentioned, as showcased by their popularity.

How much different was the first year of FJ60 from the last year?? I am not an expert but I am thinking not much.

For the market that the FJ Cruiser is serving, it is great how it is a few of the FJs are making it to this market and most of them are staying in the cities being drove by women and city slickers who never leave the city limits.

Feel free to start a new thread in the chit-chat forum.

Let's stick to the topic; the very cool color laid down by this FJC owner:cool:

Retro colors would really look good on the (hopefully)2nd generation FJC
that more resembles a vintage fj40. Then I will be in for purchasing instead
of sitting this one out. CAN YOU HEAR ME TOYOTA???

Couldn't agree with you more, and on topic Graham's paint job came out frickin sweet. props to him for the project. I think sales would double adding a couple old 40's features and old school color schemes. Its what I want, and if I can make a request I'll take the FJ45 version please with 4.7 V8 to tow my 40's around.

i've been thinking (pipe-dreaming) about painting my "friggin yellow" FJc the slightly more subtle mustard yellow from the old 40's that'd be so flippin sweet. and yeah, the white bezel really does it for me... i dig that. i may have to get that done regardless of the rest of the truck.

different time frame.

when the 60 came out, there was little after market for ANY truck.
tires, wheels, lifts, gears, all the basics for sure but the number of companies making/selling the stuff was nowhere near what it is today.
