Amen brotha!
This forum can be such a downer when the haters interject usless comments about how :princess: they think the FJC is...

HIJACK- To be fair, I think FJCruiser Tech here has been doing very well. Owners are contributing some solid info and experiences and there isn't alot of negativity anymore.
If you guys feel there can be improvements made, feel free to PM me. I am always open to improve this place for you.- END HIJACK ;)

OK, Back to the uber-cool colors!

Retro colors would really look good on the (hopefully)2nd generation FJC
that more resembles a vintage fj40. Then I will be in for purchasing instead
of sitting this one out. CAN YOU HEAR ME TOYOTA???

On the paint job?
He mentions it in that thread over there.
It ran him around $6K.

Many over on that forum have said they would trade in their '07s for an '08 if Toyota releases this color for '08.

Why???
You are going to loose a fair amount trading in a one year old rig, it would be better to hang onto it and do like he did and repaint it.

Since his rig was black, he did not have to shoot the engine bay, they left it black.
If they had done it in dune, the engine, drivetrain, and other stuff would had to come out raising up the bill another several thousand dollars.

Some colors like the yellow would have a yellow engine bay, that color would not work out so well.

6k seems like a lot for a mod that is merely for looks. The truck would be worth more down the line with the stock color anyway. It does look sweet though and no one else has it. I just cant justify it.

Corey - I love my yellow FJ!

Everyone can see me for our starts! I'd of gotten red like my '74 if available, but the Yellow works all around - -the desert pinsrtipes are just blending in beautifully.

BTW, are you doing Cruise Moab this year?

No, will not be heading out of state this summer except maybe for some camping.
There is that big FJ Summit too in CO I think it is, a little to far for me to trek.

That's the beauty of America, we all have the opportunity to do whatever the hell we want with our money without regard to anyone's approval. :D

I paid $4000 for a 35 year old turd really worth about $500, put another $6000 in it, some schmuck will pay $20,000 for it and it's now probably really worth $2,000.

I don't think opining about how anyone spends their money on their rigs is worthwhile... considering the financial absurdity of participating in anything "Cruiser-esque".

IMHO, I think it looks great. ;)

My rig is in the pictures with Graham's after I painted it ("modded it for looks").

Can someone tell me what thread this guy started to review the paint job project. The link doesn't work for me for some data base reason

Thinking of selling off some junk and starting fresh.....

The wife will like a FJC a whole lot better than that Rover you stuck her in :D

If you sell the FJ45, I think I'll end up having to sleep in it for a while before the wife forgives me.

You're right.......since I want a road trip I will give you $2100 for that red beast.:D

I was surprised they didn't offer a red. The tan looks great. One of the reasons I've heard of them not offering red is the expense and emissions of the paint. I guess there is something in the red paint that creates a problem for their factory process which makes it expensive. That is why they went away from the reds in the pickups and went to the metallic maroons. This might be total hogwash. It is just what the guy told me at the Toyota dealerships body shop.

Yesterday was the first time I've ever seen them at a dealer. The sales just stopped in Idaho this month. They had a huge waiting list. Then everyone that wasn't presold was gone within a day. Now, it just halted. They had 8 in stock yesterday. All silver or blue. They had one big mistake, a 2wd yellow one, used. They bought it at an auction and the auction said it was 4wd. A 2wd will never sell in Idaho.

And they exploded all over the place. I must have seen a dozen on the road yesterday. Even a TRD one. There was a silver one lifted. All in Boise, Idaho. We are rural so it takes some time for new stuff to get out here.

Your 40 looks really great Chris!

That is complete bull****.

Non-mettalic (Radiant) red is available on the Matrix, Tacoma and will be on the new Tundra as well.

New Tundra at the dealership here in an incredable vibrant red. Looks really sharp. However the Tundra is manufactured in U.S.A. The fj isn't. That might be part of the issue.

Gumby,
The Rover sits in the driveway til' I decide what it's fate is. I grabbed a used Lexus lx 470 for her before x-mas.

I am lurking all too much because my remodel is causing me to have no shop. The toys are all in limbo. I am thinking it might be nice to have something new to wheel. I could unload the 45lv, a 45pickup, and my 75 40. Sad but this wouldn't pay for the fj, but it would get me close. I'd then have to paint the thing white or red.

I do have issues! The house thing has me bored and broke, that's when I get in trouble!

I see Toyo is offering 10 color choices on the new tundra, including a desert Sand as well as two hues of red...
