I have that ARB rear bumper that holds the 5 gallon can on one side and the spare tire on the other.

Some people have moved the camera from the OEM location to the lower corner frame of the 2 gallon can holder.

Could someone please let me know how this is done and what parts are needed to do this?

Pop all of the interior panels on the hatch and unscrew from the inside.

Unclip the camera harness and cut it.

Use your favorite multi-strand wire to splice the harness. Cat 5 or 6 Ethernet cable worked fine for me.

Plug your harness back in and fish it though the grommet that runs between the hatch and the body.

Remove the weather strip along the body and the headliner will droop just enough that you can grab the wire.

The easy way to get the wire outside is just to run it along the weather strip and exit out the bottom. That’s what I did.

You can also pass your wire though an existing grommet where the factory jack is but you’ll need to pull some interior panels to do so.

Thanks !!!

What did you use to re-mount the camera? Any kind of bracket or did you just make one?

My dissent bumper came with a mount, cover and filler plate for the hole.

Made a mount from a galvanized shingle. Cut and fold, a couple zip ties to keep it tight.
I suggest a stranded wire for the extension. You need four conductor. 18 or 20g.

Hey @tbisaacs, so exactly how do you pop off the rear plastic panel?

I’m always afraid of just prying on a plastic panel without knowing what the clips look like.

Pry all the way around the outside. The trim is in 4 sections: 1 along top of window, 2 each side, and then the big panel below the window. They are just trim clips. The only tricky part is by the arm for the power hatch if your truck has it.

I'm also watching this where do you start from? .. my next week project.

Thanks guys. Found this highlander vid. I think it’s similar to 200. It’s things like starting at the top that are good to know.

Love this forum. Took some pics as I pulled the plastic panels off. It’s pretty close to the highlander.

Note if you happen to unplug the outside opener button you’ll need to disconnect and reconnect your battery before it will work again. Ask me how I figured that out 🤣
i have learned to disconnect the battery if I am even going to think about touching a wire.

Are the 3 holes in the camera bracket supposed to be threaded? Mine aren’t and I don’t see a way to use nuts as you can’t get in there with the cover on.

I had to tap mine with a 1/4-20 tap and then the button-head screws will work.

My cover doesn’t fit. It hits the camera connector.

The side and back holes can’t line up so even if I tap them it won’t work. My rig is 2013 LC. Camera is different from LX.

Anyone install this on a pre 2016 LC?

You have to bend down the mount for the camera even steeper. It bends easily. Even after I bent mine I still have to shave some off for a flush fit.
