My LX was black, and that was the reason I sold it, just as soon as I found a Super White LC with under 20k miles. I looked for a White LC for over a year in the like new condition I was after, finally gave up and switch my searches to include black, which is my other preferred color, but every time I buy a black vehicle , about a month later I am wondering what the heck was I thinking. They look dirty most of the time and just look at it funny and it scratches.
But one thing I have learned after owning 4 different 200s, is that Toyota paint sure seems kind of thin compared to other brands I have owned. My last 2 Tahoe's were also Black, but didn't seem to scratch as easy as that LX did. Even the Whites chip easier then my Tahoe's or RAM trucks.
I have also noticed, and this is just an observation from many miles spent on the road over the years, that certain colors really blend in with the road, like sort of road camouflage , grey, silver, and gold, all 3 can and do tend to blend in with the different road materials used around the country. Black can but that is typically only on blacktop roads where the blacktop is really fresh, only few months old it becomes grey and fades to almost silver over many years. Basically I have noticed that every time I have almost pulled out in front of someone that I flat out did not see coming , they were in a gold/silver/grey colored vehicle.
White on the other hand and I mean more of the pure whites, that is the same color they use to stripe the roads which stands to reason since white offer the best contrast with all the different road materials.
So I would argue that white is likely also a little safer color, at least in the eyes of the other motorist on the roadways .
So in addition to white showing less scratches, less dirt, etc. Pure gloss white is an easy or at least an easier color to match should something happen and need repaired. I would say that also applies to gloss black, which is one other reason I like a pure gloss black over a dark grey, because 99% of all dark greys are metallic colors, which are virtually imposable to ever match metallic colors should you need a paint repair.
That all said I love how silver looks , I really like how grey looks a lot too.
Since Super white is no longer an option here in the US market 13+, I will likely buy a silver 16-17 model LC at some point.
I think Silver offers the cleanest look even when dirty, and shows least scratches.
So if I am looking at the most practical alternative to Super White, that Toyota currently offers here in the US, I am thinking silver is the closest thing to it. Just glad it has those LED DRLs now, I will be running them on a silver vehicle.
There is my 2 cents anyway.
