I am considering adding a light bar to my 80. I am not really concerned with how it looks. Just trying to see if anyone is doing anything interesting. What setup are you guys running and how do yuu like it?

I saw a mounting system on a FJ that used a 30" in the middle then two smaller on the corners. I have a Gamiviti rack that has two mounts for a light bar 40" apart. I was thinking of doing something similar by mounting a piece of 1" square stock between the mounts. Then mounting maybe two 20" in the middle then two pods on each end. this would give me a lot of flexibility with aiming things.

But i am a real lighting novice. I have two 9" Hellas that i am about to convert to HID. This should cover the long distance lighting. But i would like something to fill in at closer distance on the trails. One problem i really have is that turning really sharp turns i dont have light directly to the sides of the truck. I dont know what is the best solution to this. Maybe i just need two 4" LEDs for this? what would be best? mount them up top aimed down or behind the side view mirrors? I have a lot to think about. What do you guys think?

The front of my "over cab" roof rack was curved to better accommodate a spare tire so I chose a curved light bar to match the curvature of the roof rack.

I have a 50 inch I will be installing soon. Not sure how I am going to mount it but will post picks once its done.

Two JW Speaker's on headlights and a 20" bar in the middle...
Plenty of peripheral lighting with the headlights, and enough long distance with the 20" bar.

How bad is the glare off of the hood? DO you guys feel like it would be better to put the lights on the bumper and skip the light bar altogether? Is the glare that bad?

The light bar obviously illuminates the hood but it hasn't been an issue.

Nothing that's a deal killer...but I'd actually be happier with more "spot" and less "flood"...but the price point was so good on the Opt7 it's a non issue too

This particular version (42" / 400W) has a good combination of flood and spot in my opinion. The outer 7 rows on each side are flood while the rest are spot. It does illuminate the hood and in my case the brush bar mounted antenna but neither are an issue.
