Why dont you guys do something like our 120 series prado's here - they have a 180litre (47gal) tank. But its acually 2 tanks classed as one. When you fill up 1st tank fills then overflows into the next tank. Rear tank automaticlly pumps into the main tank when it gets down. All you would need to do is get a rear tank made up, fill pipes joined together and some sort of transfer setup. Couldnt be that hard?
Mine as all that I installed came with a magnet to be set close to the suction tube, and I have a clear filter before the pump. 12 years later and I have not cleaned or noticed any rust on the filter
I have the magnet as well. Good to hear you aren't seeing any rust in the filter. I see just a little but of rust on the welds on the outside of the tank.
Bladder in the tank? That would mean cutting it open. Nah, too much work.

One of my friends hit it´s tank against a rock, close to the rear angle deforming it.
We dismounted it, streight the floor hitting it with a piece of wood and a hammer through the sender hole, and later we checked all the weldings with a mini camera with no rust at sight.
Problem arised later because every time he filled the tank it made a big tump about 20 minutes later because the acumulated gas pressure.
We had to dismount the tank again and tackle weld some reinforcing braces side to side to stop this wall flexing. Tank was all painted on the outside with antirust, specially on the weld spots.
In the future we will take out the carpet, remove the floor rear tank access door and the sender and insert the camera to see if there is rust inside on the places were we welded (on the outside) in case the heat damaged the inside aluminized coat.
Any how IMHO you should treat the welded parts were you noticed rust on your tank.
I wrote up a bit of my experience installing the MAF 38 gal replacement tank over here. Sharing in case someone goes that route and might find my thoughts helpful - or has some feedback for me on anything I got wrong. Pix soon.
