Hi Guys,
I'm new here hope this is the right place to post. I'm thinking up buying this old BJ70 from BC, Canada. Given there limited numbers I figured I'd post a picture of it and see if any of you guys have any info on it.

Any info would be great
thanks

Whats he asking for it?
I thought of buying that one too, never actually stopped to talk to the guy. Enderby right?
how many kms on it?

Looks pretty rough, I was gonna build it up for the fiancee
-Jon.

Think hes asking $3200, says it has 365000k on it. It looks rough I agree, if you can see that must rust on the pictures its not going to be pretty. The body can be hacked up and repaired. Its the condition of the frame I worry about.

I would of offered him 2000 or walked. The body work alone is going to cost BIG. not to mention the mileage....
But I guess if your into a project go for it.
There was a way nicer one for around 4000 in penticton a while back, just for comparison...

Yeah I'm waiting on afew more pics, well see how it goes. How long do these 3b's last before they need a rebuild 500?

Looking at that left fender the frame is not going to be pretty at all.

Well, Rebuild? maybe 500 yes, maybe longer. It all depends on how it was driven. i can guarantee all the pre-combustion chambers are cracked in the head, probably has hairline cracks in the head(not a huge deal, but gets worse). probably could do with a head gasket. transmission probably leaks into the transfer case(minor) probably would need a clutch and rear main seal. Probably needs injectors rebuilt. Probably needs new cam bearings.....
Im just going off the top of my head. Not trying to put you off it. It will run for a good while as is I bet. But how well and how long is the thing here
I bought my 3B and 5 speed with 290xxxkms and I've had to do all of the above. and still have to do cam bearings and buy a new head one day...

Just so you know what to expect.

And yea what cruiserdan said, If the body is that rusty, the frame isnt going to be a gem underneath. Id take a bright flashlight with you and a piece of cardboard to lay on and go over the frame from underneath. Check spring mounts, brake lines, fuel lines, tranny mounts, shock mounts. If you can press through with a screwdriver anywhere, its not good. and if youre serious he cant really get mad at you for doing so.

This one is mine. Frame is surprisingly still okay. main reason I decided to buy it for myself. It has one minor spot on one side that could use some attention but aside from that frame is good good good. As is Im selling it at a loss due to the amount of work to make it safe to drive for my wife that has been done. This of course is not factoring in time too. Not selling because it's broke, selling because plans have changed and have too many cruisers and not enough parking. It would be nice to not have to park my 40 on the lawn anymore.

The one in penticton, it was nice and I hummed and hawed about it, though this is a CND market BJ70 meaning LHD, that other one was RHD iirc. Sadly RHD pushes prices down and LHD pushes prices up.

As an alternate perspective ...

What would this truck be worth as a parts donor to convert a RHD 70/71/73/74 into a LHD? Plus, there will be left over parts like the engine and driveline to sell too.

Just a thought.

I think that is what should happen to it. Not a rebuilder in my opinion.

There is this one for sale in southern B.C. BJ70
The seller states it is a BJ60 with center diff lock when in fact it is a Canadian spec
BJ70

He sent me some photos and it looks pretty decent but you will have to dig deeper.

This was one of the photos - looks pretty clean but the underside may paint a nastier picture.
