Why a competitors version? Im in no way committed to MagicJack just looking for trouble free set up for my daughter. Not very interested in international call at this time.

More options...emailed voice messages as WMV files, etc, etc....

I've used the MagicJack in Central America, Mexico, USA and Canada. No complaints here. Works good but like any voip service, the internet needs to be fast enough to avoid choppy or dropped voice.

I also have Vonage. MagicJack requires the computer to be on while Vonage does not. PM me your phone number and I'll give you a call on the MagicJack.

My father has used magic jack for the past few years as a second line - everywhere is long distance. We have talked extensivly over it and as long as there is enough bandwidth it works pretty well - on occassion though you get echo or some what i would call artifacts (if it were a monitor). But on the whole it works great.

Seems like a value for a teens every day phone line.

Let me know what you think Phil - Ill be there soon enough in my household. Thankfully the oldest isnt into long phone calls or texting..........

.....yet
