Any Idea what this is going to cost?

Too bad, I had one worst than that on my 80 (two doors badly damaged), however our body repair is still done the old way, salvage the parts as much as possible and the body shop goes the extra mile and still cheap. $450.00. Too bad you cannot drive it to Puerto Rico, guaranteed will as good as new. (no body filler):grinpimp:

And lowertide is not kidding.......

Toilet plunger and a well placed bumper sticker. Like $10 ($5 each). :flipoff2:

But seriously, I hope they do right by you, that is one nice clean rig!!

Because it is in such nice condition from the angles shown above, paint the WHOLE THING.
Otherwise it'll never be the same. Trust me I know from experience and am now faced with getting my whole truck repainted. I visited a guy who did some repairs on my kids car and asked what he would charge...good quality work as the guy does custom paint jobs and stands behind his work $2,500 if I take off all the miscellaneous crap to minimize their labor.

Damn shame on a nice looking rig as yours.

Hey guys,
I took it to a shop here called fernandos. His estimate was 550. That's because he does work for these monkeys all the time. I made sure there was going to be no bondo. I was confident when I went in yesterday as he has a '51 Bently mark VI under restoration. My father has one and his was restored very well about 10 years ago. This one looked amazing. Fernando seems to be able to do some great work. He had a lot of older Mercedes and Alfa romero's in there as well. I am going to get the rig repainted in full. I am thinking of doing a two toned job with Black runners along the lower side pannels up to the front edge of the hood and grey the rest of the way up. Black roof. I saw the job done one a FJ60 on CCOT and thought the rig looked amazing. Check the electrical parts section. Some good may come of it, but until the work is done and done right I am wary. I will upload before and after pics soon.

Hey guys,

If they said no bondo they lied..

Why would he lie to me? If the Bondo falls out I am going to know and he guaranteed his work...
a. For how long
b. Against what?

There is no way to fix that without bondo..
Even brand new panels commonly require a very small layer of bondo.

Right, but they aren't going to fill it with bondo. Just smooth it out. This guy has guaranteed his work for as long as I have the rig. I am also repainting the entire truck with him. He has a very nice set up and as I said has done an incredible job on the Mark VI Bently. IU am very familiar with this car and the restoration he has done is top notch.

Upside is that access is very good to the panel. One guy can sit there all day long with a pick, ding and dolly and work it out. Crease is a problem, but with a torch and a good hand I've seen worse come out.

There will be some filler as a skim coat, but unless you ask 'em to do it in lead that is current state of the art.

Ask to see the work before it is sprayed. Run your hand along the inside of the panel...if it ain't straight it's gotta be bondo.

Color match? Horizontal racing stripe? or cool graphic...you know, something you can scrape off the first time you are on the trail!

Filler is not a bad thing, as long as it not 5 pounds of it.............

I took it into the shop today and will get it back in 2 weeks. I went for the new paint job and will update with pictures of the new paint. This is the best set I have right now of what it looks like now. I recently added new light doors and a new grill....

Someone mentioned it may be hot with the black roof. Luckily my windows still work!

OK,
The paint job has begun...well it began last week and I now have some progress photos. I am also upgrading the headlight wiring with the upgrade kit from Daniel Stern Lighting. He is very knowledgeable and the posts on the kit got me to buy it through him. Daniel is the man

1: Bosch H4 high/low beams and Bosch H1 high beams, premium bulbs, wiring upgrade kit

2: PIAA 40 round driving light set from SOR. http://www.sor.com/sor/cat262c.tam?xax=8207

I have an existing external light that was broken but the switch is still there for the second set of lights. I was really tired of the poor factory headlight set and decided to go the whole 9 yards with the lighting while the body work is being done.

The shop where I am getting all this done has been amazing so far. Fernando's is the name and Fernando is really a good guy. They have given me very good service and the pricing is awesome. Monday I should have a set of pics of the new paint job before polishing...

Here they are:

The paint looks good, but that scratch was pretty deep. If you part it out, can I get the mirrors?
