Does anybody out there have a diesel 4Runner (95+) or Hilux Surf?

I am about to purchase a 2000 4Runner Limited 4WD, and I plan on having Todd with http://Dieseltoyz.com put a 1KZTE turbo diesel engine into it. I was wondering if anyone else has a Toyota diesel engine in their 4Runners? If so, how do you guys like it?

One other question: what is the easiest way for me to add a Toyota E-Locker to the rear of this Runner?

Cheers!

Keep us up to date with the swap, very cool.

The easiest way to acquire the e-locker is to swap out the entire rear axle for one. Or just go with an ARB air locker, then you'd be ready for a front one later down the road. :D

Well, that fell through.

Now, I am trying to get a 2.8L CRD engine put into a 2nd Gen Tacoma (still done by Diesel Toyz)...

All I gotta say is: the Federal Government owes me some money!!! :censor:

There was a guy at Rubithon last year from Germany with a diesel Surf, with an 80 series/ 70 series hybrid front axle. Had it shipped in in a container so he and his new wife could honeymoon in the US and meet up with some Cruiserheads. i think his name was Marc. He's a member here- I'll see if I can remember his handle. See attached pictures.

I've got an older truck with a Toyota diesel. Love it to death (even though the 2LT-E is pretty lame).

What fell through on the 1KZ-TE? I know that JARCO raised their prices recently, but have they stopped bringing them in altogether?

Todd does good work. But I personally would pay a premium to have a Toyota diesel--because they are way cooler than anything else. :) Will the CRD fit in your 2000? Todd told me they were building a setup for the 2005+ models, but I'm no expert on the newfangled ones.

Keep us updated!

Dan
