Last min question here. My wife and i are heading to Flathead lake today for her to do a 3 day swim event. It will be at a state park a little west of Polson. The park has camping but it looks mostly full. Tonight we are staying in missoula. We are going to try to get a walk up sight at the state park for the following nights.

If thae state park is ful does any one know of any camping in the area? Forresty land, back country is just fine. We will be in the 80 so we can camp up whatever forrestry road we want.

I have camped near missoula a ton but dont know of any trails/spots that i would call a MUST SEE. I did get a guidebook for the area there in town that has a ton of trails in the missoula area that might be worth checking out. Can not reamember the name at the moment.. dont know if its too late to help ya or not.

Thanks. I found a trail sysyem right up here called blacktail mountain. It sounds very interesting. If i can convince the wife that it is a good idea i might try to go explore it.

@Bret he lives in the flathead, he should know some areas

You may be referring to Wild Bill trail. Its about 15-20 mins from the house. Goes basically from Lakeside to Kila or vice versa. For state parks there is West Shore which would be just South of Lakeside. We have had a pretty heavy tourist season so far so it might be a little crowded. I have a good sized flat spot you could park/camp on in Rollins depending on your wants/needs. PM sent.

Thanks for the offer. We were up there for my wife to do a three day swim event from big arm. We found some cheap group lodging with other swimmers in Polsen. We head out today so we are back home now. Buy thanks anyway.

To change the subject i gota brag a little. My wife crushed the event. Smoked it winning first place overall over the 3 days. First place overall men and women.

Congrats to the wife!

If you decide to come back for the trail gve a yell. Probably not worth the trip just to run the trail, but combine with other stuff that's here and it can be a good addition.
