Any black wheel owners?

Those be LX470 wheels that I picked up on ebay. IIRC, about $80 a pop to powdercoat.

The MTRs? That's another story. In my overzealousness, I really should have gone with BFG ATRs, like on my 60. Much better street manners.

But they look cool!

Nice! Who manufactures those wheels? How do those MTR's run on pavement?

For $80 bucks a rim to powder coat your're better off selling your own wheels and buying a set of new Pro Comp black bead lockers. I think they are still having the buy 3 get one free deal. Don't forget about all the dismounting and mounting costs associated. You could probably get free mounting if you bought the Procomps directly from a store. BTW I got a set of black painted BBS on my BMW 330 and it looks insane. Gonna get a set of Pro Comps for my FJ when I get the funds....kind of hurts having to buy 5 though.

I'm fairly certain that they won't fit, but I could be wrong.

Damn, those are NICE! That's just what I am thinking about doin to my 01 wheels. I wonder how they'd look on my black 100.

Loud, what kind of prepping did you have to do to em before using the can?

To those with powdercoated wheels... are they holding up well to trail abuse and tire shop abuse from rotating and balancing?

anthony see my thread on "yes im asking how to remove my rear emblem" for more info

Pint, my only reasoning to not go powdercoat aside from the cost, is that if i snarl up a wheel, i can just sand it down and respray it for a cost of 3-4 dollars. I figure that is better then having to spend 75+ to get it repowdercoated.

I saw a white LC yesterday with it's OEM wheels painted/powder-coated white to match. Looked pretty good.

Howdy! I ordered bare steel custom offset wheels over 4 years ago and had them powder coated locally. I went with 20% shine so the dirt doesn't stick but I don't want a glitter. They still have no blems in them, and they have been thru the tire shop 2 or 3 times for rebal and retire visits. John

They've held up great. Though I scraped the hell out of the PS front, but it looks fine.
