Guys,
This thread is getting derailed on the merits of a PE, Engineering, etc. In this CYA society of ours, PE's exist to limit liability. BernCo is no exception; they want to limit their liability by having a PE sign off on my docs before they can issue me a permit. This way, if someone gets hurt when my patio cover solar panels crush them, BernCo can say that Joe Blow PE said that the structure was designed and built properly and to code. PE rates should be high, given how far they have to stuck their neck out for people.
I simply would like a referral for someone who can stamp my project. BernCo needs a stamp for my project and by golly, I'm going to give them one.
So, let me know if you know of an architect and/or a PE in this state who can approve structural designs.
Thanks.
