I know that I supposed to have either the 10K or 12K winch on my rig...But...

When I bought my 80 it came with a Warn M8000i winch. I have since OME'd, rear Kaymar, and now just installed the front ARB.

Budgetary factors right now do not allow for the purchase of a new winch or even a good deal on a used one for that matter.

My question is do I use the M8000i winch or just hold out until funds allow the purchase. My thought is that a 8000 would be better than nothing. Especially if it's just sitting around my house. I do have a snatch block. The winch so far has only been used on a Chevy. ;)

A 8000# will help you out 95% of the time as long as you are running with power to the wheels. Warn recommends 1 ½ times the vehicle weight for sizing but that is so you can pull a stuck non running dead weight.

Any winch is better than none, in my opinion. Most times you don't really need the max pull in any case. If you're not out looking for tough stuff to play with, you only have to deal with the other guys in your group getting stuck, then you have plenty of options in how you use your 8,000 pound winch.

Get a snatch block and keep an eye out for an upgrade.

Agreed.

I have a deal on a used winch right now in the classified section, but the winch you have will suffice for most circumstances. At some point you will definitely need a heavier winch though.

I have a snatch block, courtesy of MAF. So that will work for now.

Junk...how much I can afford $2 :)

Thanks for all your help
