I'm thinking of going on this trip tomorrow unless something comes up at my end. It sounds like some side roads will be checked out that I may not seen in the past.

Please post up if you want to go. If you can't go, no need to post!! :D

Subject: NM4Wheeler Trail Run

Jemez Mts. trail run on August 21st, Saturday. All Day, bring a lunch and drinks. Meet at hwy 550 and hwy 528 at 8:00 am, leave 8:30 am. Will gas up at Walatowa, gas station, at Red Rocks , on hwy 4.
Purposed route: Paliza Canyon, and up to top of Cerro Palado, with time permitting, side roads along this route. I will pre run some different roads.
This will be ok for a stock 4-wheel drive, High Clearance, but trail pinstriping is likely. Mud is also likely.

Also, will consider running Cat Mesa, as a way to get to Cerro Palado. Input welcomed and I would like a volunteer for tail gunner.
.
Any questions, call Jeff Boggs 867-5848,home. Cell 328-2682.

Looks like I'll be going and Franklin riding shotgun.

I hardly took any pics but will post up what I took. As usual, the turnout for this club run is huge, i think somewhere along 25 vehicles showed up. We went up Paliza from Ponderosa then headed off to a side trail to a lookout tower. Afterward we continued on to Forest road #10 and came back to the Ponderosa campground. It always impresses me how this large group kept moving steadily with the usual lunch and potty breaks (10-100 as they call it on the CB). Only one tree had to be cut up and moved out of the way. Our objective was to check out the Cerro Pelado peak but we ran out of time.

Not much in the way of carnage - a beautiful scout suffered fuel pump failure early on so he turned around and was towed back. He has a beautiful GM 350 crate motor under the hood with fuel injection. A stock Grand Cherokee banged up his exhaust pipe a tad and the tailpipe section was removed.

it was fun for sure.

Note the "earth" button in google maps now. they embed the ability to 3D rotate now in maps. pretty nifty.

Did you make a left at the big rock where the tank traps start?

Mike,

we went past our camping spot then made the left off of the Paliza trail. Hopefully this will give you an idea of our left hand turn.
