So, I've been pondering what I need to pull off the kind of trips we usually do. The first part of that was a thread asking about RTTs. Then I started thinking about an RTT on a trailer, that would free up the truck to move about when we were camped in one place for more than one night. Then I started trying to figure out how to work in one of the main reasons we go tripping and camping--and that is to mountain bike.

And one of the main goals I've had for awhile is to have a method for hauling bikes and gear for long distances without having them subject to weather and road garbage and insects...and getting them off the roof to help cut down on wind resistance.

Given some of these priorities, it seemed that an M416 wouldn't fit the bill because the bikes wouldn't fit. And a pop-up camper wouldn't fit the bill, because the bikes are on the roof of the cruiser, then. And an RTT on the truck wouldn't fit the bill because the bikes are on a hitch rack...and the truck can't be moved without packing up the tent...

So, I've been thinking of something like this...with an RTT on top of it. This pic is from Express Custom Trailers but I am wondering if anyone knows of other sources for a similar product, preferably in the states and closer to the East Coast.

The trailer only needs to be tall enough to fit bikes inside on fork mounts (so around 4'-5' inside), but it needs to be strong enough to mount an RTT on the roof. Space for decent tires and wheels on the trailer is a must, and when packed up, I'd like the overall height to be close to the top of the cruiser.

The trailer pictured is 5x8, which is kinda cool, because we could pack other gear in the front of the trailer to get more weight on the nose, while loading the bikes in the back of it. Except a small side door would be nice to access the nose without pulling the bikes out.

I figure we could pack other stuff inside the trailer and it would provide an excellent way to haul bikes while protecting them (two of our mtn bikes cost more than what the cruiser is worth now ).

What do you guys think? Any help on a possible product that could fill these requirements?
