While lying under my 94 looking for coolant leaks and contemplating doing the starter rebuild, I snaked a hand up onto the top of the starter and felt this part lying loose up there.

The only service that has been performed in that general area since I've owned it is the PHH replacement. Any guesses?

It's part of a hose clamp. Look at the clamps on your air intake hose and you will see how they work.
 
12 and 13 minutes... yous guys is goood!
 
One of those popped off on of my heater hoses in my old 4runner. Good thing my temp. guage was busted so I didn't know what was up until there was some serious loss of power.

That is the last time I take my junk to a shop to get the radiator flushed.
