I have a red 1982 FJ43 soft top coming for sale $39,900. Truck is in Colombia.

Delivery March 2015. I personally drove this one. Starts right up and shifts and drives nicely.

This is a late model dash 1982 FJ43 with 4 drums, 4 speed and power steering. No heat or AC.

This one has very nice paint and we do not plan to do any paint work (other than maybe fix a few dents or scratches).

Truck gets a overhaul including pulling and inspecting all the hubs. Brake overhaul. Tune up. fluid change. Same overhaul we do on our all trucks. This will be my 6th FJ43.

Truck gets NEW soft top (old one is Ok but windows have some scratches) and NEW high quality interior we are doing now.

Will get 5 new 7.50 x 16 tires. Either we keep these 15 inch splits or put 16 inch splits. If you want hubcap rims in the US with 31 inch tires we can do that.

I have other FJ43s coming in in green, yellow and white.

Has non OEM dash pads I think we remove those. I have grown to like the bare painted dash look.

Another thing these are all 4.10 gears and they like 55 mph to 60 mph max cruise so keep that in mind.

The FJ43s really RIDE nicer than the FJ40s. They are not that long though and easy to tool around and park easily.

I have this truck under contract and will be exporting it soon. I am not buying the yellow FJ43 that I posted due to the general quality of the truck. OK truck not great. Apologize for jumping the gun on that one.

This red truck has very nice paint and a new soft top. I will be publishing new photos soon of the truck when it will be finished in a very few days. Please note this truck has a data plate that shows code 464 beige so it likely was repainted at some point.

We put 4 new 31 inch tires on the 15 inch split rims. Hercules AT. Will add a 5th one. This truck drives great.

Interior is new/newer and I will not be putting my fancy interior in it but what it has is nice. The top is made from Sunbrella material and looks great.

OK - I'm confused on two counts. First, I don't believe that my first question re 4.11 gears was ever answered. If all of the '79-'84 40 series in Colombia had the gears swapped out from 3.70 to 4.11, where did all the 4.11 gears come from and where are all the 3.70 gears? There must be a pile of 3.70 gears somewhere in Colombia!
Question #2: you say that you're not buying the 1982 yellow FJ43 yet you still have it listed on Ebay now. You say above that the yellow truck has quality issues. You're going to have credibility issues with these contradictions.

I believe the trucks are 4.11 gears. I don't believe they were swapped out but I am not sure why the data plate says that. I think I said that those codes may be for the axle/carrier not specifically the gear set. All I can say is every single FJ I have driven is heavily geared for the mountains and mine like to cruise around 55 to 60 mph with 31 inch tires (quiet cruise not pushing it).

I just changed the ad on ebay. I had 3 or 4 trucks being saved for my inspection by sellers while I was in Florida and I wanted to promote them.

The yellow truck needs more work done by the seller in this case so I have set that one aside. It is a pretty good truck but it is about one shade off of mustard yellow and needs a better interior and a bunch of small mechanical issues from what I could tell.

I have the 1982 FJ43 in red here in my garage and will be personally driving it tomorrow. Depending on the paperwork clearances it will be shipping soon. That is the process.

I understand credibility and I have strived to make Volcan 4x4, LLC unique in that regard. I started out by doing a six month frame off restoration before even launching the business to learn more about the trucks. I regularly post here and on my company facebook and youtube. I have sold 10 trucks now and some have been sold via deposits while the trucks are sitting here in Colombia.

The quality is very high for the price and I can source rarer models like the FJ43s and later model FJ40s.

I just spent several months and a bunch of money in order to register as a Florida independent auto dealer with a $25,000 bond.

In about 30 days I will have hopefully 4 trucks in Tampa you are welcome to come see one in person. I have not set up a fancy retail dealership because my volume is so low and most the trucks sell out of state anyhow.

This red FJ43 is practically finished. Awaiting the paperwork to clear could be a few weeks. Still needs interior work and I did not put in the fanciest interior after all but it will be nice and new. It does have code 464 on the data plate which means it was a beige truck restored to red. It is the best painted truck I have purchased so far that was painted by others. Very good lines. Annoyances to me are the antennae on the hood and the hood ties are too far back I think but I don't want to repaint what is a nicely painted truck.

I will be driving this truck around a lot so far it runs smoothly and rides really really well with the new 31 inch tires.

The top is Sunbrella material like cloth not a vinyl. Those parking "nipples" I am going to take off. matching 5th tire is coming. hercules AT 31 inch. Put a trailer hitch on it so I can hook it up to my red trailer. Not crazy about the exhaust pipe just had it done but I wanted it to look more original.

Keeping the dash pads. They are not OEM. The 4wd and the digital clock both work. hood latch is missing. Will get a little more detail under the hood.

So this truck I am excited about. It is very much like the red 1981 FJ43 I sold last year. Not a perfect museum truck but very nicely painted and clean and good running.

1977 Patrol is sold to a collector for $33,000. rare truck in that is one owner and amazingly original. I am starting to offer "affordable patrols" at low $20,000. Keep the hard tops but still do the mechanical review.

Here is one that I like right now. Needs some touches but it is a straight rust free medium wheelbase 1977.
Looks good with 32 inch new tires on it. We can put a traditional white hard top on it. I dont like the black paint on the hood or the grill. we can change that. I am around $22000 on this one depending. Interior is new.

I really love the Patrols and hopefully by starting with a rust free truck that we check the mechanicals the buyer won't have to be hunting too many parts.

There are not many medium wheelbase Patrols in the US. maybe 5 or less.

This one has P series straight six which is smoother than the 2F. has 3 speed clunky trans. no power steering. has adapted brake booster.

This ugly/macho duckling is I believe actually a very good truck. My assistant went through it. Need to do a mechanical check on it. Great color.

Do you see diesel trucks down there? If you could get diesel powerplants in the same quality rigs as I see, I would possibly pull the trigger on a low mile 1979 or newer 43 style Toyota. Not sure if youve been ask this before. Thanks.

Colombia we really don't get diesels. I just passed on that 84 FJ43 that was listed here I think someone snagged it. I also had another one that I missed out on. I get asked for them all the time but here is what I know. FIRSTLY I have not driven one personally but the Colombian ones all come with B engines (meaning the first engine 3.0 liter). That is an 85 hp non turbo engine. Every single person I have spoken with has said they are terribly slow. They could never take the mountains in Colombia plus there was not a lot of refined diesel there.

Will I do one? yes. Do I want to drive one and listen to the engine? yes! but I am not 100% sure people who say they want one know what they are getting into.

I just drove a LHD 1988 LJ70 which is a boxy 70 series with a 2.4 liter 4 cyl turbo diesel. around 85 hp too but has the turbo. It felt QUICK but it is a much more modern vehicle.

send me a message though because it could turn out I get offered one or find one. All the ones I have seen are the B engine with a 4 speed.

I drove this truck last sunday and spent more time with it. I am awaiting the paperwork on this truck so likely it won't export until April. Rims were not balanced so it had a vibration at 40 mph.

I went over a long checklist of items that we need to address but most of them are minor.

I talked more with the seller and he said that he knew the truck well and it was a frame off restoration about 2 years ago by the previous owner. He knew the truck that is why he bought it. The engine is super smooth it really feels like it was rebuilt. It is a code 464 beige but it is nicely painted everywhere in red with no trace of beige.

I sold a similar red 1981 FJ43 soft top like this one last year and I am confident in the quality of this truck versus the price. This is not a museum truck by any means nor a top quality frame off restored truck.

Personally I really prefer trucks like this though at the $30,000 to $40,000 range. I realize many do not see that as affordable by any means but I find it is a value for a truck you can take to the local car show and win a trophy. You still can put the sand covered nephews and dogs in it and not stress over as much as a $60,000 truck.

Awaiting paperwork on this one to clear so I put 2 trucks ahead of this one. Needs paperwork and light overhaul. Split rims have too much wobble need to replace them. Will post once I get back to work on this one.
