Yeah, not much salt in sunny Phoenix, AZ. Kind of the main reason why i bought this cruiser. It had some dings here and there, ran rough, and old interior but for the most part was straight. It wont have shabby bumpers for too long. I work at a steel fab shop and have great plans for her as soon as i get her running right. But shabby stock bumpers are still cool! They will be for sale soon!!

They do look cool until they get bent up on the trail like mine are, then they begin to look more like shiny spaghetti than a bumper!

Do you have pics of your 60 on here??? and how do you like your desmog??

Not really. I have some old pics, and some good pics of the engine, but no body pics. In this gallery, 6th row down are some good pics of my rig in action from this summer.

The desmog is awesome! I love not having all those damn vacuum lines all over my engine. On top of that, the headers give the trusty 2F a distinct but not obnoxious rumble.

Can you take some wheel well measurements? curious to see what an ome with lift shackles and no shackle reversal will yield for lift and ride.

Dave

Wheel well dimensions.

here's the pass. front before and after.

Ride height looks like mine! I'm not all that excited about the stinkbug look, but I'l give it some time and see how it responds to my normal camping load b4 messing with it. Now to get the shock mounts done so that I can drive it!

snippage.....
I just don't really didn't see the point of going with SS Braided DOT for axle to frame lines...unless you change out all of your soft lines with SS braided....then and only then would you get the supposed 'better pedal feel'??

- Jake
[mild hijack] The longer the hose, the more going to braided SS will make a difference. Doing only the short hoses on the front axle wouldn't be a waste of time, but you also probably wouldn't feel much difference. Doing just the long frame to axle hoses will be more of a change in pedal feel.[/mild hijack]

What settup are you running ntsqd? Did you relocate your shock mounts??

Looks like the same spring combo; med/hvy. I'm moving the front shocks to mimic the mini-truck mounting (lower on top of the axle out as close to the Birf Ball as possible) and using Fox 2.0" remote res's hanging from the F-250 uppers.

Yes they are. 31 x 10.50's I believe.

Based on the fact that you went with the HFS lift shackles, did you shim anything as a result of the lift shackle? Am I correct in that if you go with a regular size shackle, there is no need to shim anything?

Thanks,
Zack

The longer the shackle over stock, the more you would need to shim the axle to get it to where it was, stock.

Well after a long Saturday of wrenchin by myself a got my OME Heavy kit installed. Funny how the 5 different people that said they would help me with the install 0 showed up. But now I can say that I did it on my own. Screw Them!

Where did you get the lift from? Is this the 2" Heavy duty? Are you happy with the HFS shackles? The reason I ask is because I live on the east coast and I was going to order the MAF 4" kit but shipping is too expensive so I am going to piece a lift together from different companies.

It is the heavy kit from Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters with the A/B rear springs. Cant tell you if I'm happy with the shackles yet because the rig is not yet running. I also have not added any sort of shim which I will have to figure out shortly.

If you are running the OME springs with the OME shackles then you are not supposed to have to run shims according to what i have been told about the OME lift. If you go to a longer shackle then you will need the caster shims. I would get an alignment shop to do your alignment once the truck is running and have them print out the trucks measurements and see where your caster is sitting.

Dave

I also just ordered the OME heavy heavy Ultimate kit yesterday and cant wait till it arrives.

looks like i need the shims for sure. i have long shackles. Where is the best place to get caster shims?? do they come in different thicknesses or are they all the same???? BTW I think the alignment shop is going to be my driveway.

is there any way to figure out what degree of caster shim to use without taking my rig to an alignment shop??? trying to cover all that I can before I put her on the road...???
BTW just got my carb back from Marks Offroad and it looks pretty!!!! just wanted to share with you guys because my wife wasn't as excited as me!!???
