THE MESS pics.

notice that Pb Blaster, Breaker Bar, and good jack + stands are a must for this project. It would also help to have more than 2 hands.

Nice work.

You gotta gap in that tape

:D

and welcome to MUD :flipoff2:

yeah, the tape is just to keep the neighbors cat out.

Make sure you undo the bolt on the brake lines, especially the rear or put extended brakelines on.

Nice upgrade, eh?

Sweet! Reminds me of when I picked up my 60 in Tucson and drove her cross country.

Sweet, thats a nice rig. Hopefully mine will be that clean someday!

Extended brake lines are on the way. Along with greasable shackle pins.

they are the 2.5" HFS shackles from CCOT.

Very nice job, especially doing it solo.
You must live in some salt free paradise as there was no mention of the dreaded oem bushing genetically fused to the shackle pin syndrome. It will break most unprepared men's spirit.:hillbilly:

Extended brake lines

FYI... the NAPA extended brake lines - # 68009 do work. I think that they were ~$18.99. They are rugged, and definitely beat the Man-A-Fre SS lines.

I just don't really didn't see the point of going with SS Braided DOT for axle to frame lines...unless you change out all of your soft lines with SS braided....then and only then would you get the supposed 'better pedal feel'??

I have not driven it since I pulled the carb and manifolds off a month ago. Currently in the process of putting it all back together. Mark from Marks OffRoad is going over the carb. In need of a new radiator, belts and hoses too. Hopefully have her all back together after the holidays. I had one major shackle pin incident on the last corner of the rig(drivers rear) that was very frustrating especially since I was running out of energy. Swung every hammer I own at it but stood no match to my trusty angle grinder/sawzall attack, followed by a victory BEER!

P.S. definately going with the Napa brake lines. Have read lots of good things about them.

No more saggy butt.

So that's what my 60 looked like before it met salt. Cool.

I like how your rear bumper is bent up. You should see mine!

Yeah, not much salt in sunny Phoenix, AZ. Kind of the main reason why i bought this cruiser. It had some dings here and there, ran rough, and old interior but for the most part was straight. It wont have shabby bumpers for too long. I work at a steel fab shop and have great plans for her as soon as i get her running right. But shabby stock bumpers are still cool! They will be for sale soon!!
