Looks like Regina and I will be moving also, joining the mass exodus of those moving.

But, we are only going from Cary to Durham. What does the shirt say? Something like "I'd rather be shot in Durham than die of boredom in Cary".

Truth is I've been inserting the "downsize" word into conversations for over a year now, something clicked when a great opportunity came upon us. A near perfect home, literally across the street from work for me, very similar commute for Regina, with enough room for the girls to always have "their room" but small enough for Regina and I to manage better. Going from 3400 sq/ft + 1500 sq/ft unfinished basement to 2100 sq/ft w/2000 sq/ft daylight basement, plumbed and ready for move-in. Wind up cutting our mortgage by 40% getting the new house for a deal.

Best part, 1.5 acres, no HOA or restrictions other than living within Durham city limits. I can park my rig/cars/bikes/dogs/etc at my desire, as long I want to be a good neighbor. Link to new digs...

Our offer on the new home has been accepted, our current home goes on the market in ~10-14 days once I wipe the 5 years of white trash stain off this fine Prestonwood home.

Yes, I will be asking for my club's help with moving the big stuff. The first PODS unit arrived that will be filled with all my garage/tools/fab stuff and extra from the house, so it can be staged appropriately. I've got to find a way to store the 45 parts and the 80/exped trailer combo during the sale of the current home. Most potential Prestonwood buyers don't like seeing parts of a vehicle under a camo tarp, under the deck.

I'm jacked up, out of my head, excited for this move, having the potential for a massive shop, being able to walk to work and have very nice ranch home for Regina and I to mellow into...

sounds like a perfect opportunity....may the move go smoothly

That is awesome, Jerry! The new place looks fantastic, very nice score.

I have a bad case of the downsize bug too. Our last home was 1500 sq ft w/ basement and garage and full attic, that was plenty enough. And being close to things would be a huge plus.

Let me know when you need a hand packing/stuffing/moving.

HEY you will me 10mins away from me :):p:p:D:D:D:D

Congrats Jerry! Down sizing is great, so long as there is shop space :) We went for smaller house, bigger shop and more land. Heating and cooling a big house can break the bank.

Thanks buddy, this part seems to be working out, gotta lotta work to get to thru still...:bang:

1.5 acres and no HOA. Sounds to me like a nice shop building is in the works. When I moved out of my house years ago I went through all my stuff and picked the stuff I really wanted (more valuable) and moved that stuff first. What was left was pretty much available for the taking so I "paid" my help with what was left, as long as they moved it out. It's a great way to downsize efficiently and pass things on to good people.

Sweet man! Love that house. Wish I could find something like that in my price range :D

Next weekend for the benz?

Congrats..... downsizing is always good.

I sometimes hate the size of our house and it is only 2100 sq/ft. Just more room than Andrea and I need but it is useful with company. I'm sure you will be more than happy with the room.

Nice idea, we really need to purge some things. Since Regina's company has moved us 3 times, we've not gone through that purging stage most do when they move themselves.

I've got PODS #1 in the driveway now, loading with that "vault" type stuff while making 3 piles...keep, toss, sell/donate. Just have to move in 2 stages, one to get it cleared of all my crap, second when we move for good. Not my fav way to do it but its the way it is...

I've got to work Sat morning, til ~1p, we'll talk later this week to see what works best for you...

Agreed, now that the girls are grown/growing up :crybaby:, its hard to rationalize 3400 sq/ft. The timing of things are working thus far, just hope we can move our current home...

Digging it Jerry. Hate to lose a "next door neighbor" such as yourself, but it's a short drive :D

You know the deal as we discussed - trailer and help are just a phone call. Thanks for bringing the ring compressor by - all 6 pistons are in now. The one you have is a bit more robust than the one from Advance and did the trick. #basementenvy

Tis true, the talent pool is very good around here with more south. With the space, the brewery can stay more active, encouraging that short drive when necessary.

Looks like I may borrow the trailer to move the 45 parts, not sure when that will be yet either, maybe when I get J and TJ's crew doing some landscape work around the place, I can drop some $$ to have the crew do some heavy lifting.

Glad the ring compressor worked for you, one step closer...

Jerry, not sure why the other thread was closed, but do you need a hand Sunday packing crap up? I'd be happy to come help, I am a bit limited in the weight of things I can lift due to bad shoulder but would be happy to help in any way........

I could also pack my 80 with junk you want to trash, since we live so close to the dump................

Thanks Joe. I closed it, bad time to ask the club for help when we are hosting an event.

I just get pressure from the agent so she can get pics up and having the 45 in pieces around the home isn't the best presentation. I'll check in with you later this week, worst case is you come by and we catch up...
