While I'm home I'm going to experiment with making a throttle body space for my rig. I'm hoping to get the benefit of a bit more torque and better throttle response since it'll be port matched perfectly to the TB and intake plenum. I won't put a helix pattern inside it, since that does nothing more than make a ghey whistle noise and I can't see something like that doing any good at all.
Odds are it might not do a damn thing, but for something that's free, I'm all for at least trying it. A guy on Pirate is sending me a 1" thick chunk of phenolic to make it out of, so another hope I'm having is that a bit of cooler air going into the intake will help performance a bit. I'll be bypassing the coolant passage in the TB in hopes of keeping the air as cool as possible.
I'm not sure if the enlarged plenum will make any difference in our engines, but it's worth a try, eh?
