Okay, so I hate to bring up the whole hood flutter thing because I know it’s a sore subject with the GX 550, but I just went and test drove a 2024 F sport with about 4000 miles on it, and I noticed quite a bit of flutter happening. I actually didn’t think it was an issue with the 600s, but I did notice it at about 70 mph, so of course I went straight here and I noticed that there is a post about it on the 700s. So my question is, does everyone notice this issue, or could it possibly be just this one vehicle? From the other post, it seems like it could be an easy fix, but again, I didn’t realize it was a thing with the LX. Granted, this is the first one I’ve test driven, so I don’t have anything else to base it on.
I also noticed quite a bit of wind noise at highway speeds. Not trying to be nitpicky, but is this pretty typical as well? I know I need to go test drive another one to see for myself, but it just seemed a little excessive compared to my 200 with a lift and big ass tires. Do most people take off the cross bars? Other than those two things, I really liked the way it drove. I don’t think I will get that particular one, mainly because I don’t think I can keep a black vehicle clean enough, but I would like to know your opinions about the two issues. Thanks.

My 200, 61, both 100s and every 70 I’ve ever driven or owned has hood flutter.

Interesting, thanks for the response. I’ve had two 200s, and two 4runners, and countless other vehicles and have never noticed the hood flutter before. Maybe because it was a black vehicle so it was shinier? Maybe it was because it’s been put in my head that it’s a thing now? I don’t know. I just know that I noticed it, and never have before.

My LX OT has hood flutter but I don't notice it when I'm driving. I have to look at it. My 460 had one too but less noticeable because it's white.

I do notice wind noise at 75mph but I'm pretty sure my 460 had some too. I downloaded a decibel app and at 75mph, near my ear, it's around 63-65 db, with the moonroof close but the shade is open. I never had a 200 to compare wind noise so I can't tell if it's less or more.

My Lx600 (2022 base) has cross bars, and has minimal wind noise when the sunroof is closed.

Had a little hood flutter initially, but after some reading here, I adjusted the front hood bumps (black rubber bumpers about 2cm in diameter, 3 cm tall) which decreased it quite a bit.

Hood flutter is present on my wife's 2023 gx460, was also on my previous 2008 100, and her previous 2019 Gx.

A couple of 3 inch sections of pipe insulation stuffed under the hood between the black plastic covers on either side of the engine about 6 inches from the rear of the hood worked for me.

Hmm that’s very odd. I’ve had 4- 4Runners and a 1 - 200 LC and none of them had any flutter, My 600 has it.
Oh I forgot my 5th gen 4Runner also had it.

There is hood flutter on my 700. If u want to get bold and fix it, would use expanding foam fire block inside the hood but it's messy if not done properly. The stuffing rubber inside the hood seems dumb. There is less flutter tho since I got ppf xpel ultimate 10. No hood flutter on my gx460.

700 is super quiet on highway. I could put my radio near lowest setting and still hear it as an example.

I have other gripes but overall it's still a good suv.
